Be a lot harder to get through traffic, which is a big reason not to be in a car.
A proper off-road quad has big fat tyres run at very low pressures, these actually are useful on snow and may help a bit on ice; they run at very low pressures I believe.
I suspect one with road tyres/wheels isn't going to offer much over a light car.
Alternatively, the Yamaha BW range are supposed to be pretty good, thanks to basically using quad bike tyres:

Fancy owning/having a play on one some time, unfortunately very rare, especially in the UK.
I've been thinking that a trials bike could make a good bike for these conditions - trials bikes are made to get grip over slippy wet rocks and nasty mud, which may not be too far off snow and ice. |
