Recently inherited a Y reg Focus and the remote central locking doesn't work.

Using the key unlocks all of the doors so I'm guess it's to do with the receiver, anyone know where it is at all?

Or, for that matter, have any other ideas/suggestions, other than a reprogram. That's going to be a last resort I think Sad

Get in car & shut door, stick a key in ignition, doesn't matter which one.

Turn key from OFF to position 2 & back again 4 times in under 6 seconds, then wait for the BEEP.

Once you hear the beep press any button on the first keyfob, wait for another beep.

The if you have any more remote fobs within 10 seconds press a button on the second remote fob, wait for the beep again.

Thanks for the responses guys,

It's not the battery as I've tried that, although the contacts weren't quite right I don't think.

Tried it again and it opens fine, pops the boot fine, but when I go to lock it it locks then immediately reopens.

My only idea is that a button's stuck but then why wouldn't it just open when I went near it? Confused

In that case there is a problem with either:
The car thinking a door is open, when acctualy it isn't , id be looking at the door/boot switches
or a lock is faulty and not locking.
Lock the car with the key and try EVERY door, if all are locked then the car thinks a door is open, which is why when you lock it with the fob its "bouncing"

The button isn't sticking is it, as in you lock it/open it but it registers twice and does the opposite of what you want ?...

Just a thought...

No I had the same thought, I also thought it might be the buttons' contacts. But the circuit won't come out to check them.

The unlock button definitely unclicks after it's been pressed though.

My pug did that. It was a broken wire in the loom between the drivers door and the car. Soldered it together then it was fine. It's started to do it again so I'll check the wires again when it's a little warmer.

As Jamie said,the car either thinks one of the doors are open,one is open or one of the lock motors is knackered so it bounces back to open.it's a common fault on Fords.
