Is a 'side' light an MOT requirement?

I presume that it is and I've found reference to a 'position light' in the MOT requirements.

Is this the low-power light that is illuminated on the first click of the light switch, similar to the side lights on a car?

The reason I ask is that if I ride my bike to the MOT with standard headlight and without its fairing it won't have the side light. So I would have to fit/make one.

I could obviously re-fit the fairing, but am in the process of making the bike naked.

Yea, that's the position light as far as I know.

Can get away with it some times, thanks to flexible/lax testers. Pretty easy to add one, especially if you've already got the wiring - suspect just small led siliconed on or something would do it.

Yes, the wiring is there and I have an LED bulb that will fit. I could put it into an old torch reflector.


I wonder if black duct tape will suffice?
