Insurance query

I am about to turn 17 and i am looking at quotes for my 125 and been getting fucking stupid ones like 400quid even though i got 1years ncb from my ped, I am planning on doing my test in easter because of this i statistically should become a safer rider meaning my insurance should go down. Does anyone know if they will refund me money when I pass or does nothing happen.

Be patient, it'll go down as you go older, there are few ways around it

i passed my test begining of december and phoned up my insurance company and no adjustment in price for passing test just £25 administrator charge!

I know how it feels, insurance company want £375 for my GSXR insurance next year (TPO) but my Dad can insure the 2004 R1 with £37,000 worth of accessories in my local bike shop for £150 fully comp. .

Be patient and it will come down, try adjusting your cover (TPO, TPFT etc?).

Ring round more companies to drive the quote down. Tell them you want them to beat your best quote. Consider security for the bike, and garaging it if you can - this will cheapen your quote. Consider a older and/or "boring" commuter style bike as they'll be cheaper (i wouldn't be surprised to see £400 if it's a sports style you're getting quoted on). If it helps i got £110 TPO/£200 TPFT when i was 17 with a provisional, on a CG125 (no NCB).

I'm £500 or thereabouts on my GZ125 with 0 NCB. I'd consider killing for £400... then again it's another incentive to get the test done.

It is a suzuki van van, I looked at some quotes for when i pass my test to see if it was worth passing my test before insuring it and was given a quote of pretty much the same which confused me. I tell the people on the phone what my best quote was but they told me they can't beat it. mce have gvien me my best quote so far of 300 quid so i am probaly going to go with them if my local brokers can't do better.

Weird, you all have quite high insurance prices really on those small bikes.
My RS125 was 330 TPFT which isnt bad, as came with all little add ons with mce if i remember rightly.
The 600 after license was done cost 260... not much difference in price really.

I paid £160 TPO for my RXS and £230 TPO for my TZR.

The quotes getting thrown around in here are very expensive.

My mate did change of address the other day with his insurance company- not only did they sting him an admin charge but also another £30 for moving to a "more dodgy area". Even though its less than half a mile from his old address in what looks a nicer estate.
