I know, a few of you will probably see this as a pointless thread, but I know some people are interested in the thing so briefly going from obtaining it til the current final tweaks of it's latest rebuild; it's soon to be working again.

Before I start, if this kid is here, please PM me... Thumbs Up
https://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb54/stevenns125/DSC00545.jpg

I got it in Oct 06; as my previous bike was written off; travelled from York to Plymouth for it where I gave the guy 550 for it then it sat in my parents garden where I lived for a few weeks til it was roadworthy and I made the jump from auto's to manuals.

When I started riding it:

https://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb54/stevenns125/2008_02_10_bikepics-1179286-800.jpg

I crashed it minorly a few times getting to grips, I have pics but they require 'digging out' of old hard drives and web pages, but if needed I can - Found the earlier thread, quite interesting looking back.

Then in Jan 07 I managed to spectacularly mash it.
Pics from then:

https://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb54/stevenns125/DSC00074.jpg
https://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb54/stevenns125/Bike4.jpg

Then it went to this:

https://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb54/stevenns125/DSC00128_2.jpg

Which took a surprising amount of work, doe to the earlier crash I was off work for about 6 weeks, couldn't really move too much and my progress was limited. I was about ready to give up on biking actually, not just this machine, I'd like to thank:- JBurrows, stelmer, chives, XlonewolfX, Shaun, Keith, McGee, EVO if he still browses(send us a msg matey) and Jo (oh, and mudskipper/nick606) for their input at the time of the accident and general help.

I rode it for a few months 'fightered' while I was getting the fairings re-done, I took a lot longer than I should have sorting them, I used the bike for work and I have a really, really short attention span. Anyway one day The police stopped me and gave their opinion of the light, which I found out wasn't British Standard marked etc, so I had to get it sorted. I parked it up in my mum and dads back yard and worked on it very slowly, then moved out and the work stopped, I'd go over every other weekend to start it/have a tinker until one day I noticed it was sat on it's ass.... Eh?

Having inspected it, I noted the rear suspension had been nicked.
I noticed the day before the fairings were moved but put it down to my mum or the dog, as I looked about 2 out of the 3 rear fairing bit's had been stolen and the remaining one had been snapped in half, of which they took half.

I decided that I had half an hours daylight to move it, my dad said wait til tomorrow, but I took it in the dark that night.

Here's a pic of it bodged with a screw driver which didn't work so then spray can to hold up the rear:

https://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb54/stevenns125/DSC00521.jpg

Except when I set off, the can was old but unused.
Half way from my parents house to my place, the can decided it couldn't hold anymore - it was under sealery stuff for car sill's and underbody anti-rusting. This resulted in me having just under a mile trek with it looking like this: (at least it was dark)

https://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb54/stevenns125/DSC00476.jpg

https://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb54/stevenns125/DSC00462.jpg

So over the next few weeks and months, my dad popped along to help me with it, I was as keen as ever to get almost roadworthy, enough that I could use it but he insisted that it be somewhat proper and safe - which I did say I wanted to 'restore' it. But I'm impatient so worked on it here and there, for him to return and fix all the corner cutting I'd done. Embarassed Laughing

https://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb54/stevenns125/DSC00463.jpg

This is how it stood end of summer (under the tank you can see what's left of the half broken off fairing - 1 mount's worth), buy now I'd rented a garage I could see across across the car park from my balcony but it had no electric etc, couple of hung up camping lights sorted that but it's currently a storage space, not the workshop I'd planned.

I had to replace the shock still, so I bought one which turned out to be an NSR one, so that's for sale if anyone needs it (about 20quid inc postage).

https://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb54/stevenns125/DSC00482.jpg

Now was the time for the fairings, I decided to have full ones again but the old top one and screen were fubar'd and thrown in the mash-up so I bought 'new' along with a lot of random replacement parts only to find the fairing was a race rep one, so it had no mirror mounts and didn't fit. Me and my dad then bolted the lower one on that was barely damaged and re-drilled it all, fibre glassed the front plastics up (credit to him, I'm useless with all that stuff) so they had more strength, since being like 20year old the flexing helps it crack etc..

https://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb54/stevenns125/DSC00413.jpg

https://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb54/stevenns125/DSC00571.jpg

https://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb54/stevenns125/DSC00574.jpg

https://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb54/stevenns125/DSC00575.jpg

https://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb54/stevenns125/DSC00580.jpg

Then I decided given the progress to shift it into the garage while it was empty(now filled with crap)

https://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb54/stevenns125/DSC00582.jpg

https://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb54/stevenns125/DSC00584.jpg

That's as it stands, I need:

A screen
better Zorst(ideally another micron)
Stickers
Seat Convertor
Pillion Pegs(i have a pair, but i want spares)
At some point, a pukka top fairing to put some mirrors back on
New tank, this one still has a balls shaped dent in it

I should be MOTing it once my ordered new front master cylinder comes through the post; we'll see.... Thumbs Up

Kudos to helping keeping the bike running in addition to those already mentioned:

Looks like you've had a real roller coaster ride with owning this bike! Interesting to see how its changed since you bought it.

And did you spill the Icredible Hulks pint? if not you must have had a really severe disagreement with something large and solid to totally mangle the forks Shocked

I hit an Astra's rear end at about 25mph.

I noticed when I took it for a quick MOT last month(in no fit state Laughing) that it's realy boggy after 5K, and stays at about 25mph. I let it warm up, I know it's got a couple pin holes in the exhaust which are bandaged up but I think I'll have to strip the carbs and clean them considering how long it's been stood this year.

Laughing Na, I got a stock one, but I got a couple pics of that and I think Sandra got one or two as well at Rivi. Embarassed

https://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb54/stevenns125/DSC00190.jpg

Also, MattHirst and T0M have been helpful with constructive criticism/waiting for me on rides when I shouldn't have took the bike out. Razz (the ride with Ste and T0M from york through Harrogate was an entertaining event. Laughing

EDIT - this is the exhaust, the down pipe was bodged with a square section ali, welded at each corner for integrity (which didn't work in the end), and then welded at the flange end to the usual bit that tightens onto the cylinder head.

Ok, had a fiddle this morning but had to quit since my fingers were dropping off.

I had to mess with the throttle assembly then the screws went missing, the front brake light switch needed re-wiring so that's done but it also lost a screw. Local screw shop will be open on 4th, il replace them all then since I found one to go by.
https://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb54/stevenns125/DSC00598-1.jpg

An MOT advisory/failure point was the seat having shed a bolt, again I have one from the other side to go by.
https://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb54/stevenns125/DSC00599.jpg

Now, one thing I'm unsure of is how to get rid of this paint stuff?
https://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb54/stevenns125/DSC00602.jpg It has got on the tread of the tyre too but very slightly and only in one place. I was thinking of powdercoating the wheels but much later on, I'm not replacing the tyre since this one hasn't even really had 100 miles.
https://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb54/stevenns125/DSC00603.jpg

Vid of it running, had to be careful of the ice at the end of the road there,

https://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb54/stevenns125/th_MOV00596.jpg

and the other one - anyone tell me what's causing the sqeak? The replacement mastercylinder is en-route but why's that fail the MOT? It works.... (that said, it is the same one that I was using in the crash)

If there's one fucking thing I hate on bikes, it's playing with carbs. Crying or Very sad

I''m stuck which jet i'm supposed to be checking to clean and solve the 'not going about 5K/25mph' issue? does'nt help that most them are virtually welded in; i'm trying desperately not to round any off. Thumbs Down

A good tip for carbs to get rid of the gunk is buy some white spirit and submerge the carb in it for 48 hours.

Have you got any pics?

As for the wheel/headlight, I don't really want anything for them mate, they're spares I'd of kept in the back of the garage until they were needed so you cover cost of postage + 5 or 10 quid to box 'em up il send them just gimme address. Thumbs Up
(don't have spindle/bolt/speedo drive for front wheel though it didn't even come with)

I've sent my carb off to my dad's tonight to be cleaned and made pristine. I ordered a new master cylinder off EBay last week, sent payment recorded delivery so hoping that'll come tomorrow/thurs.

One issue, is my clutch cable won't be fitted in a way that it doesn't hit the clocks when I turn right, and so it always interferes with the steering, how can I solve this? Anyone got a pic of theirs so I can re-route? Smile

I'm afraid not mate, I'm runnig it all stock but I have an incling that because it was setup for the Micron, the stock exhaust won't work with the current jetting.

I'm getting me old man round this weekend to help fix it, carb is done and it should just need bolting together and MOT'ing.

Also bought a seat convertor since last one was nicked.

55quid it cost!
