Well i know the stuff about the MD80s is still on the go but i recently bought this:

https://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/12516908/Disgo-Digital-Camcorder-Black/Product.html

I exspected a piece of shite but tbh its pretty good.
It does shoot 640x480 at around "30fps". Pretty much the same as the MD80 but it does give better picture quality and the extra LCD screen means you actually know what your pointing at.

Its about the size of a phone and takes AAA batteries and has a SD card slot can you can record asmuch as you want aslong as you have batteries and some SD cards (comes wit 1gb SD card and 3 non rechargeable batteries)

Its alot bigger than the MD80 but i am well impressed with this cam.

Its not too good in the dark (well its absolutly shite in the dark) but with good light its comes up clear and good.

I would have some footage but because of the weather i havnt been out on the bike for about a week Sad .

It also does still photos aswell as video,

Quality wise its not too bad as when these came out i think they where about £80+.

but for £18 well worth the investment

Is it easy to attach to a bike or the outside of a car like the MD80?

Doesn't look like it attaches very well to a bike? Might as well strap my phone to the mirror!

Probably annoy you more when a stone flicks up and smashes your phone though Smile.
I've wondered about making some sort of mirror for this sort of situation (actually a wrist-mounted still-camera, but that's another matter Smile ), however suspect it'd cause more problems than it'd solve.

The quite-popular 'hero' cameras always seem to have rather un-aerodynamic fixing positions, but people still seem to do ok with them. This one would probably be ok mounted behind a screen or maybe on a fork leg.

You'll probably find some suitable mirrors already fitted to your bike, you'd just need to angle them correctly.

Like i said its about the size of a phone so mounting it wont be as easy.

But mounting it by the clocks/forks or tank should be easy enough.

pic quality is pretty damn good (on par with the MD80 no probs) and its tiny Very Happy

not bad for £8.50 ish + sd card (i just whacked my old 2gb one in that i got with the MD80 as i replaced it with an 8gb one)

I got one of those and was pleasantly surprised with the picture quality - good 'value' at that price definitely.

Both systems look interesting (one for its size, the other as it has a screen) but guys, we really need example footage of both systems to see if they are up to much ... even if the example footage is taken in a cage or on a pushbike, you can only really tell quality when these things are in motion you see ...

My MD80(ripoff) gives an OK pic when not submitted to any vibration, but it doesn't have any image stabilisation, so the pic turns to rubbish pretty quick if things get bumpy/viby Sad
