im very seriously thinking about buying my friends 2004 ktm sx 250. he wants £2000 for it. he is selling it with the orignal wheels and the ktm supermoto wheels, brembo break caliper and master cylinder, lots of spair plastics its got an fmf pipe on it lots of bling bits foot pegs, tank cap, oil cap, the off road wheels have just had a new set of tires on them and the supermoto rims have nearly new maxis tires on them. he also got swampy to change the piston and rings 6 month's ago he has done 4 enduros on it since and been up geralds farm a copple of times. what yah think should i bite his hand off or is it a bit exspensive?

Hard to say without looking at it. Dirt bikes are difficult to put a price on because it's all about condition rather than age. If your happy to pay 2 grand for it then buy it.

What do you want to use it for?

4 enduros at 3hrs each is 12hrs, I'd check the recommended 'refresh' interval, but you might find it is only 10hrs on the crosser (SX) engine???

Also, you need to ask about bearings, fork seals, pads and c&s, these all get a hard life on a offroad bike.

Like Joenitro said, it is all about condition, to know that you need to see it and have trust in the previous owner.

Is it road registered?

Sounds like most of the questions have come back positive, but you didn't say what you wanted it for!

If it is for road, then you need to factor in the registering, MOT and taxing the bike ... you will either need a daylight MOT or get lights and a alternator for it too ... by that point, you could have bought a road registered one!! Wink

I am not sure £2k for a non road registered one is a 'bargain' but ts not a rip if it is from a known source either Thinking

As I said, depends on what you want to use it for really ...
