2005 yamaha fz6n .........LOST KEYS..........

hi all

im in a bit of a deep hole here. I only had one key for my 2005 fz6n. It seems the missus left it out and it looks like its either been hidden by a mischievous 2 year old or binned by mistake.

after a full and gruesome house search the last few weeks ive given up of finding it so need some advice.

Ive been in touch with yamaha dealers who tell me all european fazer 600's (new type) have chipped key and ill need a lock set as well as a new ecu totalling a fair bit over £1000.

This aint cost effective so im looking for a way around it. Im thinking of getting a crash damaged fz6 and keeping the locks and ecu and swapping for mine then selling the bike on or breaking it.

suppose im just posting hoping someone has a miracle cure.....

I believe you have to replace the ECU unless you can find your key number.

It will probably be on a metal tag. I'd check any documents that you have. Maybe the previous owner would have written down the key number somewhere.

If not then I think you will have to replace the ECU and lock.

I take it it definately has YISS?

Where would a mischievous 2 year old hide it?
Then think what's 'it's' place of most curiousity is, and check there.

If it's answers regarding replacements, is there any model specify forums or sites of enthusiasts that could point you in the right direction?

cheers fellas.........ill keep my eye on ebay i think......didnt search the obvious...........dont really mind paying a couple of hundered...dont like it but better than the hassle of buying a scrapper , raping it and selling it on..........

bike is mint with only 5k on clocks so its worth it....

can't you get a locksmith to make up a new key from the barrel or something simular? or isn't that possible?

To find that code someone else was talking about have a look in your user manual, my suzuki manual has a space so the owner can write the code in so this might be the case for your fazer.
