Was pretty nippy, but was just a fake piece of plastic, i love sports bikes, but its not sporty at all!

Look around for a Hyosung if you want grunty and full size.
The NSR's are sound bikes if you look after them, riding mate has one, runs beautifully as he maintains it! Nippy, Nice size, looks the nuts too Smile

Up to you what you want, 4 stroke or 2 stroke..
the ybr isnt too bad a commuter, its along with a CG really.. performance wise its mediocre.. but gets you from A to B.

cheers. a hyosung gt was also an option but ive been told that they are like most Chinese bikes and the hefty price tag was an off putting thought.

Hi

Hyosung are not Chinese. They appear to be fairly well made.

All the best

Hyosung's are Korean and I've had one for about 8 months previously. It was a sound bike and I'd have one again if it's parts were reliable. Mine wasn't a popular model so parts were hard to find but it was built like a tank. Thumbs Up

I think Dragonfly has one, although being a softy I'm not sure how much she uses it Wink Razz. Ask her. Thumbs Up

Was that on the flat with no wind?

My main criticism of them is normally the weight however.

yea thats heading along the A249 in maidstone, summer evening, around 8pm, no wind, flat road, sitting at about 11,000 rpm with him and me folding like a set of deckchairs Razz

Must say though, its had a very easy life before hand and i did run it careful for about an hour before picking him up, bike was probably at its peak condition then.

All the best

If you're referring to the Hyosung GT125R, and you have the money wupwup, don't hesitate, go for the GTR! Thumbs Up

I currently have a Hyosung XRX 125, which is an Enduro, and i love it, never let me down. On the day i got my XRX, i had a look at the GT125R, it was £1495, and had done about 5000 miles, it was the red and black one, and honestly, if it wasn't for the L plates, i'd have thought it was a 600, it's a terrific bike size wise, and it's lovely to ride Very Happy

I had a go on it up the road from the Motorcycle dealers, i managed 50mph due to running out of road, and for such a huge bike with a V-Twin 125 engine, it had decent acceleration, the gearbox was smooth, and being a 4 stroke, with a Scorpion end can, it made it sound amazing! I've said it before and i'll it again, if i had the money, i would of got the GT125R without hesitation.

If you want the looks, reliability and decent speed, then the Hyosung is the way to go, i've heard it can hit 85mph, and i think there's a video of it topping 141kmh on Youtube, not to sure? Rolling Eyes

Hyosung parts aren't as hard to get hold of as people think, Startright Motorcycles do mail order on their website, and have a range of Hyosung parts, which is where i bought my left mirror from for my XRX, they're a great service, they deliver fast and everything is reasonably priced Wink

Like st3v3 said, they're Korean, and for a manafacturer that isn't well known, i'm impressed, and they are slowly getting recognised amongst the popular manafacturers such as Suzuki, Yamaha and Honda etc... Don't get put off when people say they Chinese, Hyosung's build quality is far better, and engines are almost bulletproof Thumbs Up

If you go for a GT125R, i'll be very jelous Wink

I would say about my XRX, which has been very reliable and never let me down, done thousands of miles on it, and it's been great fun, but since it's an Enduro and you're looking for something like a CBR or NSR, then you probably won't like it... Rolling Eyes

Could always look into some Crosser/Enduro bikes, there's quite a few out there which are pretty fun to ride, and keep the reliability factor Thumbs Up

Definitely check into the GT125R though, you won't be disappointed Thumbs Up

Probably, being hes 5ft 3 and weighs a bag of potatoes Razz
It was pretty much non learner legal when i bought it, was doing around 16hp i think.. had modded airbox, sv650 filter, scorpion end can, straight through downpipes and link box, rejetted. I think thats all you can do to them...

Ah, a reasonable amount of sensible mods to the power, makes more sense. But then spend the same on a RS125 and you can be starting to get decent more powerful than that stock too.

well it was going to be the gt125 wich is the naked version of the gt125r so i dont have any expensive fairing to replace if i drop it. i think if i got anything other than an nsr it would be naked because i dont think i would get any other 2 stroke and there is no point realy in having a faired 4 stroke that i will drop anyway.

I'd prefer just to save the money in the pot and use it for a 600 when you pass or whatever CC you want. IMHO of course.

It's entirely up to you. I'm fine staying with 70-80 until I pass my test. Thumbs Up

I would like to go faster, but don't want to spend the money modding my CBR.

Is it just a rumour that people prefer buying vehicles with original stock parts over ones that have been modded? Or just me. Very Happy

I'd prefer a stock bike so have a little bit extra faith in it not being tampered with on the inside by a nut job. Very Happy

Yeah, fair play mate, i'd be gutted if i dropped my faired GTR and damaged it Rolling Eyes

The naked version is the GT Comet, which is also a brilliant bike, never seen or ridden one, but they are basically the GTR but naked. Apparently the Comet is less powerful, despite weighing less, anyone verify this?

Whatever Hyosung you go for, you won't regret it, but it's all up to you mate, all down to whatever tickles your fancy Thumbs Up

There are some nice Supermotos out there to in the 125 class, and i'm even comtemplating getting a Supermoto instead of a Bandit when i pass my test, but they're just more expensive and fairly harder to come by. There's only 2 Suzuki DRZ's on eBay right now...

Best of luck with whatever you choose, keep us updated mate Thumbs Up

If im honest G, im really iffy about getting a stroker.. I guess i just want to be able to turn on and ride. Now ive got a full licence and have a larger cc bike, I am seriously considering a low cc 2t.
Just because they seem a bit fun, and I now have a backup Razz

I'd be more worried about treating a tuned 4 stroke than a relatively low powered 2 stroke - ie comparing your GT to a NS125F or similar.
Not only will the 4 stroke suffer from abuse, but even though it may take longer to show, when it does go wrong it'll be a lot more hassle to fix.

Yea i get what you mean, I only had it for a short time as I was battering it, so put in for my test.
When i had it, It felt fairly stable, went to all the servicing intervals and was checked over before I sold it and it was in a pretty good state, so it might not have damaged it too much.

Ah right, i knew they both had the same V2 engine, but i just heard of the Comet delivering slightly less power, which never seemed to make sense to me... Rolling Eyes

Cheers mate Thumbs Up

Never knew the Aquila had the same engine, i'm guessing it's slower though due to the weight.

The GT/GTR weigh over 160kg

Problem I found is Startright are heavily overpriced. Especially if they know your model isn't the most common...

As far as I was told a few years back Hyosung make engines that Suzuki buy in and fit in their own range(and have done for several years).

The Hyosung Grand Prix/Hyper which I had was only made because Hyosung made the parts for Suzuki but had excess, so made their own bike; The Suzuki Burgman was what they were actually bought in for by Suzuki. Wink

If you Wiki them, it's amazing to see how a company that started off in Textiles and Chemical's now have such a diverse portfolio. Thumbs Up

Yes im as sick as other people posting fake speeds...but if you read this bikes had enough done to it, to be fair it was stressed to the point of living at the redline, heck if I still had it, i could record it.. im not some pedboi prick making up some stupid speeds.

Edit: sorry if that seems arrogant, bit of a shitty mood atm!

The GV is lighter, that's hardly surprising actually, with the GTR, the bodywork is from the 650.

I have RT-125D engraved into my cylinder block, which is the Hyosung Karion.

st3v3 mate, i only got a mirror from Startright, and i never looked at the other stuff, like main parts for Hyosung bikes, so they probably are a bit pricey, but i'd shop there for parts if i had to Thumbs Up

Yeah, Hyosung are actually a surprising company, and i was told by the previous owner of my bike, that Hyosung in the early days actually designed and made parts for Suzuki, and they ended up signing a contract with Suzuki in the 70's, and from then onwards, both companies have shared parts, so a certain bike from Suzuki could contain something from a Hyosung, and vice versa Thumbs Up

the gtr125 has a similar style to the fairings on a 650, although not exact.
The gt is like 2-3kg less i think, that woul be the fairing and the mounting frame for it i guess!
