I really must get my HoBao Dominator fixed... It only needs a new pull start. I'm missing out on loads of fun here!

Did you water proof the radio gear on you truck? A mate of mine uses durex to stop water getting in.

Get it fixed and get it played with!!! Thumbs Up

No real need to it is in a little tray ... not 100% waterproof, but means at least not fully 'exposed'!! Cool

I now have a CEN nitro car too ... most of the parts are interchangeable, which is cool, but the truck is much more versatile - the car would have not got anywhere today for example!!

Anyway, you can see the radio tray box (bottom of this pic).

Kool, it might be worth taking the old pulltsart off and seeing if it can be fixed (you need to get it off to put a new one on). They are only ~£10 new anyway Thumbs Up

Tried that, the springs had it, so it defo needs a new pull start. Gonna take it into the shop as it hasn't been run for quite some time (drained the system and put plenty of after run oil in when it went into storage) and get them to give it the once over (I'm to lazy to faff around with the fuel mix screws again).

you shouldn't need to mess with the mixture just coz it hasn't been run for a while ..... it is not like you would re-jet a bike if it has been laid up is it!! Wink

Sorry, I should explain... I bought it a year ago, ran it in and just when I was about to alter the mix after the run in (they run rich out of the box for extra lubing) the pull start broke, so it needs it's initial tuning.

Ah, gotya!! Thumbs Up

BTW, the run-in mix won't be far off the post run in mix .... if anything, you will just extend the life of the engine if you leave it at run-in mix!! Wink

To make such stupid comments, clearly you have never driven a nitro truck in the snow!! Wink

I took my boys xmas pressie out in the snow today.
A £40 electric monster truck.

Fuc*ing useless.

I knew I should have stood firm when trying to persuade the wife that he would enjoy a proper 4x4 one (tamiya or nitro types).
Cow !

In that case, I suggest you sit her down, force her to watch this vid, then slap her round the face a few times to 'learn' her!!! Thumbs Up

Trouble is... I dont want a nitro really... as they seem chavvy.
Need a good electric 4x4 ... did look at the Tamiya 4x4x4 (ie: 4 wheel steering too).

Easily avoided if you learn all the technical lingo and start talking about the intricacies of the little differentials etc... you will be branded as an anorak, but at least you wont be a chav!

The main reson I went for nitro was becuase I've had electric before and it's so depressing playing with it for 20min until the battery goes flat (with performance dropping the entire time) and then having to wait 2 hours for the bloody thing to charge. Nitro cars don't suffer the power loss problem as the tank empties and once it's run out, 15 seconds later it's refueled and ready to roll! (I will admit that the screaming noise from the little 2 stroke engine is annoying though)

In which case I find your "Try build up the speed slowly so that the truck gets on top of the snow. " even the more surprising ....

If you have a nitro truck yourself, you will know the combination of their power band and the clutch on them is such that you get almost NO 'easing in' ... and that as soon as the wheels start moving/spinning, it will dig-in faster than a dog after a bone! ... they are so heavy that they sink down to the chassis as soon as you place them on the snow too ...

Wasn't so bad on the more compact stuff ... but then you can see that in the vid too ...

You do need to adjust the mixture settings on these engines quite often....

Pretty much every day you take it out, but it does depend on the make and size of the engine.

The TRX 2.5 in the Cen car above, is a right royal bastard to tune the low speed needle. (have had 6 of those motors in various models
Laughing )

I don't really find the tuning a problem ... but then I have been playing with Nitro IC engines for >20 years Embarassed
