in these straightened times these actually might make some sort of sense for trundling about on. not sure about that exhaust though (emissions regs?). Sad

nor the 'high tech' instrumentation either...

Happy days Very Happy I'd still rather have an old 638, but nice to see Jawa rising phoenix-like.

If only MZ would do the same Sad

I really like that, shame it costs as much as £3k. I reckon a more competitive pricing could see that match the Chinese for price and beat them on quality.

There had to be a down side. Not sure how they can justify such a hefty price tag for such a basic bike. Even two grand would have been pushing it.

It's interesting that the Jawa 250 Travel which is a 4 stroke, has automatic pumped 2 stroke lubrication Laughing

As others have said though the prices are crazy.

£3,000 for something that is barely quicker than a Honda CBF125 which only costs £2,000.

Nice to see they're back, but £3k is way too steep especially given that second hand ones are so cheap.

I'd be interested to know how (or if) they got them through the emissions regs. I suspect they may just be SVAing the individual bikes, given that they're probably not going to sell that many.

Not too keen on the 'updated' styling either Confused

Just before they went under the last time. Jawa made a liquid cooled, 250cc 2t single with reed valve indiction called the "Supermaster". They were making just under 30bhp and weighing considerably less than the 350.
https://www.motogrupa.cz/images/jawa250supermaster/jawa250supermaster1.jpg

Now I really likes this bike. The also did a motard type version called the "tempo".
https://www.jawa.nl/jawa_street_enduro_blauw_techniek2.jpg

I've only ever seen one of them and it looked like a handy piece of kit.

Jawa were always better at making 4-strokes than 2-strokes. In fact, their 500 singles are still one of the most powerful engines of their type. Look at any speedway race.

I don't know, looks a little to me like the same kind of thing as a Chinese company purchasing the AJS name and using it to double the price of their shite.

Nah. They're the same bikes they've been making since the 1950's with an off the shelf digital dash module bolted to them in place of the original clocks. 100% original Jawa.

Different to the Chinese. Jawas are robustly made out of half decent materials, just the design is ancient, the tolerances are all over the shop and the final assembly is somewhat hit or miss. They are slow and evil handling because they were designed like that, not because they have been badly made. They will break down but they will not break.

Unlike Chinese bikes that are simply made out of the thinnest, cheapest materials they thought they would get away with.

I like that, surely the cost isnt much off what a Royal Enfield would set you back? Similar sort of thing.

Just been to F2 motorcycles website to check and it says they have binned Royal Enfield. Bit of a shame, as they seem like a decent dealer, anyone who pays more attention have any idea why?

I didn't know that. Do they import them to the UK, or did you have to bring your one in yourself?

That's a CZ, not a Jawa.

[/ANORACK]

EDIT:
Anyway. I'll see your crosser and raise you the 165mph, 1971 Jawa model 673. A 500cc V4 2-stroke.

i don't know why thay dont slap that sloped foward speedway engine
and a 6 speed box into a road bike frame,
the speedway engines are fairly decent, and have a substantial amount of poke

I suspect the reason they're so powerful is because they have a silly compression ratio and are designed to burn methanol. Not ideal in a road bike!

I got the feeling Dave Angel like stuff to be simple. Now that Enfields have gone the fuel injection route and the bikes are similarly priced with modern Jap stuff, it doesn't fit with the "Unspoiled by progress" banner he flies.

Looks like his Trabant is still for sale, too Smile

Dave Angel used to import them, I think they didnt pass the SVA approval for whatever reason.

I wonder why the MZ wouldnt pass but the jawa would? The MZ is pretty frugal on 2 smoke oil and the turkish ones run electronic ignition and German made Bing carbs.

i realise that, but its not hard to drop the compression, and change the fuelling,
my point was they are a really robust engine, that goes for quite a while with little or no problems, even though they are thrashed continously
