I need to do some mods to this jap import starting with de-restricting it from a 180kmh limit.
Lots of people are going on about a modified airbox - how do I do this or where can I get one.
Cool

I've no idea about a light coming on, haven't noticed one. But what about a modified airbox, know anything about that.

If its an injection bike or a carbed with a CDI unit then the CDI will be the restrictive factor more so than the air box.

Speed warning lights only generally appear on pre 89 Jap spec bikes, and they come on at 55mph. As to the other restrictions.....on big stuff like the XJR it could be anywhere...electronics, exhaust, even cams. Without a parts list to cross reference it's going to be a bit tricky.

Spose so really unless he can get onto the XJR owners forum and see if anyone on there has ever derestricted one for more info.
Pretty much pissing in the wind here, it could be a number of things. Usually its the CDI box on say a french import yam, only have to cut a wire, i know on the RSV millie's they have restricted exhausts and CDI IIRC.
