hi i was just wondering what the best performance carb is to buy for the chinese import mini moto's that isn't too expensive but does deliver more power and performance than the standard carb that comes with the bike... help and advice would be emensily appreciated thankyou

and also if anybody knows of any websites that have the diagrams for the import mini motos that would be brilliant

You can get a flat side carb from ebay that works ok, but you won't get a massive gain from it. What ever you do, don't buy one of those offset woodruff keys or reeds as they are both a complete waste of money. The keys just sheer off and the reeds don't do anything.

The best things to get are a decent exhaust, (not one of the cheap crap ones from ebay) better carb and a metal pull start. Don't bother with barrels and stuff, they just cause more problems.

What kind of diagrams do you want? there is only one wire on them for the kill switch and the engines have 5 parts on them so it's easy to put together.

If you want to make notable improvements to a cag, you can't really do it 'on the cheap'.

There is also little point of putting a bigger carb on if the engine is 'strangled' elsewhere.

If you want it to go notably faster, you will need an ignition advance, a bigger carb, a K&N style filter, a new pipe, and a big bore kit.

Or just some NOZ!! Very Happy

The standard carb is absolute tosh anyway so replacing it can only make it better.

When i had my mini moto, i tuned it with everything that you could buy and just bolt on. It just made it a bugger to start and break down all the time. There wasn't any noticeable gain in performance either.

As for big bore kits, there is no big bore kits for the cag engines, they just machine a groove into the side of the bore and call it a transfer port. Then they add a removable head, a few fancy colours and say it's a big bore kit. I have one in the garage that i took off because it was shit. Plus all the lightened flywheels, 'racing' clutches and reeds that shattered because of the poor quality

I've seen some fairly nippy cags (compared to standard), so it is possible to make them faster, but simply slinging parts on that were ever designed to actually work together, its going to be a lottery, there is actually a good chance you will REDUCE the performance.

My cag was left fairly standard, I did put a K&N style filter on it and up-jet it, it made very little difference, but probably did pull a copula hundred more RPM at the top. Or at least it 'sounded' that way.

I think in summery, save your money benny147.

If you want a bike that goes faster, then buy another bike.

I've got a couple of B1 reps and when they are going, they go like stink!! Cool ...but they ae so fickle it is unreal Sad .... mate had a Blata Elite 4.2, it is aircooled, goes just as well as the B1 (it actually drags out of the corners better than the B1) and never misses a beat ....

yer i was thinkin just the carb and the exhaust, i used to own a track minimoto that i used to race in the past and that was pretty quik it had all the power band kit on it and race carb etc... but i sold it when i lost interest but i want to get back into them so im just gonna kit this cag up which i have got now and the reason i don't really want to spend much money on it is that i only gave £20 for the bike itself lol. and as for the NOS kit for it i really want one but how many shots would i get from the NOS before it fried the engine?

mate dont get the aftermarket carbs, they are even more shit than the origonal, usually the modified cags are slower, i had a mate who spent quite abit of money on his and it was half teh speed of mine lol, they were roughly the same speed to begin with. he didnt know what he was doig and just bought mismatch parts and turned it into total shit

if you want abit more power on it just buy one of the big bore kits but dont put any of the head gaskests in. it sounds stupid i know, but the "head gaskets" are just shit anyway, just dont use em and make a seal some other way, exhaust paste or something similar. doing this massivley increaces your compression and it made my other mates one 2x as powerful. didnt even detonate suprisingly

tbh its not worth putting any upgrades on em. as was said earlier they are all just mismatch parts, none of the exhausts are any good, they are made without any design or calculation of the expansion chamber. the cag engines are a copy of a leafblower engine and are shit and do not benefit from an expansion chamber as the port timing is miles off anything reasonable

ebay

be warned though, some are not worth the box they are delivered in

but for £25 you might aswell give it a go eh. also dont bother going for the one with the most ports. those "transfer ports" at the back of the cylinder do absolutley nothing at all. 2 reasons why.
1. there is no channel in the crankcase for them
2. they are not designed properly, infact i wouldnt be suprised if they decreaced the performance

The bore kits are not worth it, they are cheaply made and make the bike loose power. The only good thing about them is that you can change the compression easily.

The big bore kits are not big bore kits because they are still 50cc. There are no real big bore kits available for the 50cc cag engines, just kits that look fancy and have 'ports' milled into the bore. If you ever get a chance to look at one you will see that they will do absolutely nothing as the ports lead to nowhere.

They are 49cc big bores ... despite being labeled/sold as 49cc, cags are actually 39cc from the factory ... the 49cc kit makes it 49cc (unless that is a con too??)

Every cag i have had has been 49cc, the piston is exactly the same as the one in the 'big bore' kits.
