Petrol is 108.9 in my area. No problem for me even though I get only 45mpg. But anything near 120 for petrol will make me walk reather than ride anywhere within 2 mile radius from my home Laughing

Sweet jesus Shocked
what car do you drive?

My ST3 returns more than that (30-35mpg) and that`s shockingly bad.
18mpg is nuts mate. That car should be a sunday toy, whatever it is. Idea

Oil tankers are queuing up in the Channel waiting for the price to rise.

Its only a 3lt V6 406 estate, but when loaded up with, wife, kid, dog and other shite + all this snow and heated seats and climate control on the mpg goes right down, normally get about 21-23mpg round town. I'll be getting rid soon, its just getting to costly to run

My Mother used to have a Mitsubishi Evo 8, that did about 15mpg at ~85mph on the motorway, 8mpg or so at full whack, awful.

Fuel does seem to be slowly creeping up again, it makes a huge difference to my Dad's business who buys around 400-800 litres of diesel every day or so. Shocked.

hmm, I haven't bought petrol for a week or two. But it's £1.04 here, or £1.11 for Shell Optimax.

I'm still loving 100MPG. I've been in the red for the past 2 weeks including riding around in the snow and I'm still not empty or on my reserve yet. Truth is I can't afford petrol anyway, although I think I found a couple pound coins around here somewhere the other day.... that's at least another 40 miles Very Happy

I share your pain. I drive a 2.5 V6 Auto Omega, it's got all the bells and whistles and is very very comfy to drive but I only get about 19mpg on runs and high 20's mpg on the motorway. It too will soon be going as i can't afford to put petrol in it anymore - £10 worth = about 30 miles.

Worse thing is i've not had the bike out in about 5 weeks because of the ice so i'm having to go everywhere in the car and it's a killer.

Makes me cry everytime I have to put juice in it Sad

If you're running your car on onion juice you're doing it wrong Laughing would explain low MPG too!

Costing me £11 from absolute empty reserve to maximum recently. and then 200 miles later......

So I was thinking if I strapped a 20L jerry can to each side of my bike I would actually have enough fuel to get me to Madrid (assuming MPG doesn't suffer too much). According to my calculations it would take me three days though. I think I've mentioned this before come to think of it, but it's a massive ambition of mine to ride there someday. Might do it this summer.

Only problem with carting 40L of fuel is a) the weight and b) the risk of a big old fire Shocked

I usually fill the tank once I get around 120 up on the trip meter. So I'm doing 120 miles to 6-6.50 of fuel, which isn't at all bad for a stroker.

Three days to get to Madrid is pretty good, all things considered. I've been thinking of going to the south of France in the summer on the RXS. All the posers in their Ferraris and Lamborghinis and me on the old fossil Laughing

Sure but only at the heaviest point, that start. It'll be an average of an extra 20L over the duration of the trip (not bad) and even less than that the closer I get to my destination! And big fire risks? You're assuming I'm going to bin it, how kind of you Razz

Maybe I just need to buy a BMW and do it properly.

I'm not assuming you'll drop the CG. I'm just pointing out that a very large quantity of fuel in plastic containers is a fire risk Razz They do have petrol stations in Spain Wink

It would be no fun on a BM. No challenge in riding something guaranteed to behave impeccably, built for long distance touring Wink
