How tight is tight? Try calling your local recovery firms and asking how much they'd charge... likewise try your local 'man with van' companies as you can just get the bike into a normal sized van and secure it with straps (the van man will likely have them). ____________________ Previous: 2002 Honda CB500 (sold), 2007 Suzuki SV650SK6 (crashed), 2005 Yamaha FZ6 Fazer (sold). Don't know anyone with a bike trailer or a van, only person I know with a car is my neighbor who's in his 80s. No family to speak of either and no breakdown cover
Didn't give man with van a thought though. Pretty much 50 is what I can afford right now and 75 is literally leaving me without food for a week. I'm sure with a few compliments and use of my excellent bartering skills I could get it picked up cheapish. |

book it in an MOT station as close to where it needs to go as possible.
you're legally allowed to ride a bike to an MOT as long as you're insured. even without tax.
if you're pulled, they'll contact the garage you're booked into, if they can confirm the booking, you're off on your merry way.
if you get pulled outside your doorstep 50 miles away say ''i used to live there and its the only garage i trust'' or some bullshit like that. or ''highly reccomended by a friend''.
then just phone up and cancel. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. In summery, mattsprattuk is a gobby little sh1tebag, dopehead tw4t, but sadly for all of us, he probably isn't THAT full of sh1te!!

That's actually a brilliant idea, I had a simliar idea but I think it would sound quite far fetched. The idea was to get it taxed and insured. Go up there by train and pick it up - got the get it motd. Come back and ride home.
Except it's a yamaha rxs100 and I have no experience with geared bikes I know how it all works and I lived in spain most of my life / was driving cars from the age of 12 so I'm guessing 10 minutes and I'd be off but straight onto A roads and though I'm more than comfortable to do this I'd rather be safe than sorry.
After looking online the cheapest I find; price per hour is 30. So hour a bit each way with a leeway of 30 minutes to load the bike and spares (Should only take 10 at max right?) Gives me 3 hours meaning 90. Though I'm sure I could get this down to 75? |

If you have a license you can rent a van and drive it down yourself. Saw an ad on the back of a van today "from 50 quid". Cant remember the company name though.
Have a search.
For 50 miles diesel will be cheap. ____________________ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

An RXS will fit into a small hatchback if you take it to bits first. Surely you know someone with a crummy old car who'd be willing to help?
I picked up the GN250 in the back of my Polo. Yes, both wheels had to come off, but it did fit. We tied the tailgate down and took it very slowly on the 20 mile drive home
Personally, though, if it runs OK and has good tyres and brakes, I'd just book it into an MOT place locally and ride it. Is there any reason why it wouldn't pass, for that matter? |
