PostPosted: 17:17 - 10 Jan 2010    Post subject: Do I have Tinnitus? Reply with quote

Over the past couple of weeks, I have noticed more and more a ringing in both my ears, its reasonably queit but I am noticing it more and more.

I used to the play the decks a fair bit and have been told that my left ear has lost some of the lower range of the spectrum hearing but my right was fine?

Seeing as it has been really cold recently I am hoping that this ringing has something to do with that?

Anyone else have this and how do you cope? Can you have this temporarily?

Thanks

Hi

Possible although I am not sure it should occur that quickly.

Might be an idea to go an see the nurse at your doctors you have your ears checked and possible syringed out.

All the best

I'm pretty sure some infections and ear infections could cause this temporarily, but it's free to get it checked out by a doctor so that would be my advice too Thumbs Up

I got tinnitus after a few weeks of high speed commuting while wearing a noisy helmet about three years ago and still have it.

I don't notice it much normally. Its only when in a quiet environment that it intrudes.

I seem to have a little hearing loss. Tinnitus in quiet places and I always shout or so they tell me (sounds normal to me).

I've put it down to bikes as I always wear protection when shooting or power tooling.

A doctors check wouldn't be a bad idea thought I wouldn't think. Strangely I can hear sounds fine but not complicated sounds like speech. I can hear even quiet things but can't make words out very well most of the time.

Is tinnitus when you have a constant high pitched tone in your ears, like when you used to adjust the tv before getting a channel ?
If so I must have it.

Yes.

I've also got it - which is odd because a) I don't high speed commute, b) I haven't been riding that long or that much and c) I always wear ear plugs....

Booked myself a docs appointment Sad

That's exactly the same for me. I have a white noise sound in my right ear. It only really bothers me when I'm lying down about to go to sleep.

You can have different sounds but that does sound like tinnitus (no pun intended).

Hi

Yes, sounds about right.

My father has it very badly, but hasn't really ridden bikes much since the 1960s (has one now but it doesn't do many miles).

I have a very mild high pitched white noise in my ears (not surprising as I never really used ear plugs until I got the moulded ones), but my hearing seems to have suffered more than that would suggest (I find it far harder to distinguish one particular voice in a noisy area than I used to).

When I was about 6 I got sent by school to have my ears tested as they thought I was deaf. It came out as perfect, at which point they realised I wasn't deaf just taking no notice as I was bored Confused .

All the best

Keith

I also have tinnitus, I can normally hear it in quiet rooms or when I have my ear plugs in. The only thing that really bothers me about it is I struggle to hear what people are saying when in a room with other background noise.

I play the drums but the girlfriend says my hearing wasn't fantastic before I even stated playing.

It could be the weather, or an infection as mentioned. Also my tinnitus noise increases when I have done some exercise, have you been doing more walking in the snow recently?

Its good to know that its common as I have been finding it quite distracting in work, I work in IT so I can be sat in silence when trying to work something out and eventually it comes through this high pitched meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee in both ears in stereo.

I guess its not as bad as some of you guys, you have my utmost sympathy Thumbs Up

I am going to get my ears tested again and see if a good cleanout will help. What sucks is that I have just got Logic for the MAC and am trying to learn that, oh well down the volumes goes Rolling Eyes

I also suffer from tinnitus. I put it down to too many high volume metal gigs over the past 15 years. I've just started wearing earplugs to gigs, should have started years ago. Rolling Eyes

Ive lived with it for years, constant white noise with intermittent high pitched whistling, sometimes i get a crackling noise too. Vitually deaf in the affected ear as well and eventually diagnosed with mennieres, luckily i very rarely get vertigo attacks so am able to keep my licence as I tend to get several hours notice of an attack. I have medication called betahistine but it doesnt appear to make any difference whatsoever.
