The title pretty much say's it all. I was just made to run a red light because the rear wheel of my bike started to slide on a patch of ice as I approached a amber light, forcing my to continue through the red light about a second after it turned. I got flashed by the camera and just waiting on my fine. Is it worth me fighting this?

I doubt it .........
No doubt someone will point out the obvious, about when aproaching a set of traffic lights that are green ........... what should you prepare for em to do next regardless of the weather conditions?

Unfortunately not, you didn't ride taking the conditions into account.

Hopefully nothing will come of it.

You should have been riding according to the conditions. You knew it was icy and should have taken this into account when approaching the lights.

Not worth fighting it IMO as that's all they will say.

You were travelling too fast for the conditions.

The only way round this is to go back tonight and burn the fucking menace with a car tyre and some petrol.

Not that I condone criminal activities, of course Wink

You kept going for a whole second? What if someone stepped out at a crossing?

You were clearly not riding within the limits of the conditions.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

you probably could contest it.

actus reus or something like that. mummy lawyer says that there have to be 2 factors in something like this.

the offence itsself
and intending to do it

depends if its a statutory offense though.

punch a guy in the street in the face and its assault
punch an agressive guy in the face and its self defence

A mate of mine ran a red light in Bristol in his own words "avoiding an accident" but he knows he should have planned better.

Anyway, he received the notice in the post and instead of the 3 points and the fine he took the speed/safety awareness option.

I'm led to believe this is a days course, but depends upon the authority in which the offence was committed as to whether you get offered it as an alternative.

I think you should read up on 'Absolute offences' before giving legal advice. I suggest listening to Mummy Solicitor a little closer in future as well.

In fairness if it was black ice on an otherwise clear stretch of road you may have been "driving to the conditions" whilst still being unable to stop. Does anyone drive at 5mph every time the temperature's below freezing even if the roads have been clear up to that point?

You may be ok anyway as I've been flashed by a traffic light camera before without getting points, although that may be because the pram obscured my number plate as it bounced over the bonnet.
