Do your leathers match your bike? Is this cool or would you look like a twat? I must admit i've always fancied a nice set of matching Alpinestars leathers but when I see riders on a shiny bike with matching shiny leathers I can't help thinking (probably unfairly) 'fag'.

I still wear my leathers which I wore when racing with plenty of crash damage (scuffing, not tears or holes). Is this cool or am I just a scruffy git?

Matching leathers are cool Thumbs Up unless your a BAB or a weekend rider that just can't ride to save their life, which your not so don't worry.

Personally I prefer black/silver as they match anything you ride and they look better in my opinion. Getting some black/grey RST's next week Smile

When I bought my leathers I didn't care that they matched my bike or not. I bought leathers which fitted and were comfortable and that I could afford. At that point I didn't even care that the leather trousers that I bought didn't even match the jacket (plain black trousers, red/white/black jacket) but did care that they zipped together.
I now am still using the jacket, have trousers that match and on my 3rd bike with the same leathers and they all match a treat. I wouldn't say that its important to have them match but it does look good IMO Thumbs Up . On the other hand a safe bet is to buy all black leathers, lid and boots, then you can look good on any bike you ride Cool .

When i see a biker with matching leathers, the first thing that comes to mind is a BAB, dont know why but it does. Guy i know, his first bike is an R6 and he had matching leathers, i think he was a bit of a tool jumping straight to an R6, and that he has crashed 2/3 times in 3 months.

Though Plain black leathers look a bit 'geigh in my opinion.

Then again who gives a shit about what other people think, if you like them go for it, dont let other peoples views, stop you from having what you want.

You know matching is the way forward! Wink

I think it is good when your gear "compliments" your bike rather than "matches" it if that makes sense. By pure chance my kit matched my first bike and I really liked it, but when I moved up from 125 to big bike I couldn't really afford to choose a bike by colour so I don't match anymore. I like yellow/black colour schemes on bikes most, and I prefer leathers that are mostly black with a bit of yellow, and the helmets that catch my eye when I go to have a look in the shops are black/yellow. So it's not that I'm going out of my way to be colour co-ordinated it's just that these are the colours I prefer.

I bought my leathers last year when I was still on my NSR. They didn't really match my bike at the time, by chance my current bike matches my leathers.

I'm going to semi-contradict myself here and point out that I also think it looks crap when you clash.

That's why I've got black leathers, black boots, black gloves and a black helmet.

It is pointless you getting a matching set, well unless you cover your bike in masking tape and a set of leathers held together with cable ties, you will definitely be matching then!

Oh, and you are a fag..... Laughing Just though I would add that in..

Rough looking leathers is cooler!

Matching leathers are cool in my opinion. I got matching leathers after I got my latest bike. I wanted new leathers and had a choice of colours so I naturally chose the same as my bike. Nowt wrong with that.

I personally it looks kinda smart if you match your bike, take Shaun for example Yellow Bike, Red and White Leathers and Green Sliders, just alot of mish mash Razz.

When you match your bike it looks kinda nice, and that your co-ordinated, then again you can look like a tart. Laughing

Watch out mate, the stitching on my RST's is starting to come undone in some areas, stretch panels, neck cuff and (scarily) arse double stitching too.

One thing I learned about leathers, is always buy when you're 100% sure of your bike's colour, otherwise you end up with this Laughing .

Fortunatley as Bendy said, black leathers go with any bike. Black bikes seem to go with any leathers Thumbs Up Smile .

Exactly!

Still, everyone does want to look 'the part' when they're riding their pride and joy (no pun intended, honest!). My bike is red and I have bits of red in my leathers, not because I want matching leathers, but because I don't want to clash (insert bendy's comment).

I saw some bloke on a spanking new R1 a while back (when they're were all blue). He had a blue bike, blue leathers, blue helmet and even a blue end can, it definitely looked like he'd been dressed by those 'queer eye for a straight guy' (not that I watch that sort of think Wink ) blokes"

I don't have a problem with people having matching leathers, after all they're not a fashion accessory there a safety item. as long as they do what they are supposed to, it doesn't really matter about colour.

I think it can look nice if you've got a nice bike...

Personally, until I'm rich and can afford a really nice bike and matching custom-made leathers I think I'll make do with what I've got! Smile
