Hi.

I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with falcon bikes as an insurance company?

Also, does anyone know anything about the free legal cover the bike insurer offer? Is it still worthwhile to pay the extra money for legal cover to the insurer or just use thebikeinsurer?

Thanks for your opinions. Thumbs Up

The next cheapest option is Ebike for £320. They are also offering me riding other bikes and a £200 excess as well. TPFT.

Who's offering the riding of other bikes policy ?...Ebike ?...

I'd check their FAQ's as it says they don't offer it...

Falcon wise, I ran a quote past them last week and they couldn't beat Ebikes ( my renewal one ), but three of of my mates are with them and all have ridiculously cheap all singing all dancing insurance...Oh and they've never asked for restriction cert's for two of my mates in the past...

Wouldn't use ebike again, frustrating as when you don't have a number to call if theres a problem. Other issues too.

I have made a stupid mistake. It's bikesure that offered that quote, not ebikes.

So the question is £320tpft including riding overseas (not bothered about that) and riding other bikes.

Or I can save £50, increase my excess to £300 and just ride my own bike. To be honest, I think I'd rather save the 50 quid and just ride my own bike and stop riding my mates bikes.

And although the excess is £100 more, that saving of £50 only makes it a £50 difference.

Does anyone have any experience making a claim with falcon?

Also, how about this bike insurer legal cover? is it better or worse than you get from insurance cos?

I'm with them at the minute. They beat my first quote by around £50. then when i phoned them to take out the policy there was no trouble at all.

I got a bit cheeky when i was ready to pay and asked the girl if i could get another discount for paying it in full, She went away then came back and gave me the free legal cover (Which they where going to charge me for), Unlimited mileage, free breakdown cover and been able to ride the bike in europe!

I got the quote off the bike insurer, and keep getting mitherd off them. If you can try to put a number you don't use in the phone number as they do mither a bit. Had nearly 20 missed calls off them in a day!

Yes they will ask for a copy of your restriction cert.

Currently insured with them on a multibike at 19.

£430 TPFT for a ZX6 and a Suzuki GT250 Thumbs Up

I'd want to know who the quote is underwritten by rather than just who the broker is

The insurer is "falcon reserve" apparently.

Does anyone have any experience making a claim?

So that'll be a small time, probably Lloyds based syndicate. Very hit and miss whether it'll be any good if you ask me

Lloyds based syndicate company. However, Equity Red Star are actually half decent in my experience - used to write a lot of Motor Trade and Fleet business with them over 10 years ago

I like Equity Red Star. Because they're the only underwriter that will cover an under 21 year old for riding other bikes. Shame they're usually beaten on price though Sad

Falcon Reserve... they have their own underwriter? (i was always under the impression Falcon Bikes was a tiny company).

Thanks guys.

Not a bad result. The only thing on top of that I would've liked would be riding other bikes and one thing that's a bit of a pain is that I need to chain the bike up in my garage everytime or they won't cover me if it's nicked. I would've prefered no security required.

Did you try devitt?
It was really cheap for me and they gave EU cover + riding other bikes + personal injury + solicitor(no win no fee I guess).

Offer them a copy of the receipt for the work instead (assuming you've got one).

As that's the same thing and does the same purpose as a restrictor kit according to the 33BHP article MCN cobbled together (based on no doubt what they'd read on bike forums).

If you are able to do that then (or even just show proof of purchase of either your 33BHP bike (the advert including 33BHP in the blurb) or of the restrictor kit itself, if you bought it and fitted it yourself.

If you can do any of that i reckon you've done more than enough for them, and should tell them to go swivel if they want more (because they're just being stupid and blindly following company policy).

Got a good quote off them this year but i'm glad i didn't go with them - they'd have been pretty big arguments over this Twisted Evil
Wonder if it could be called an "unfair contract term"... (because the burden of proof of wrongdoing is supposed to be on them as the insurance company/underwriter or whatever).

Now i have the opposite experience.

Just bought a 2nd bike 97 plate Versys.
I have just moved as well.
Emailed them to ask how much to just add the new bike to my current 97 Divvy ins.
Was advised in under 4 hours to login and fill in the changes section.
Result was i have added a 2nd bike for 3 months which has a value 6x more than the insured bike and changed the address all for the princely sum of....

NOTHING

What a winner Karma

Currently looking to go with these for my VFR.

Has anyone on here been asked by them for a restriction certificate?

I come out of my restriction in May and really don't want to insure with them and get trapped into having it restricted...
