It appears that BA are operating a policy of not allowing men to sit next to children that are not their own in case they are secret Len Faircloughs. Even though these wicked men have simply occupied the seats that they have had allocated to them they are being publicly humiliated and forced to switch seats.
I don't know about you but I would not be very happy if some cabin steward came mincing up the aisle and implied that I may be a perv.

Sitting next to a kid on a plane is a horrible experience as they get bored and fidgety, so I'm in favour of not having to sit next to kids.

Id change it though so the kid had to move rather than the adult male.

Any kid who makes a nuisance of themselves can be put in those plastic handcuffs until they promise to be good.

That means no kicking the back of the chair in front.

I'd put kids in the cargo hold, same as they do with animals. Or maybe allow only tranquillised children in the cabin.

ffs, yet more ridiculous policies that will do nothing more than cause trouble. Rolling Eyes

I remember reading about a guy being asked to moved as he was sitting in between two kids. Eventually, the stewardess gave up when she found out they were his son and daughter.

I'm not clued up on the typical pedo MO but, I imagine it would be fairly difficult to molest a kid on a plane full of people with cabin crew walking up and down and someone else sitting next to you...

If Mr Glitter still browses the forum, perhaps he'd like to comment?

Nice. You were a child once, remember.

If you had children yourself (and maybe one day you will if you meet a man who satisfies your requirements) you would think different.

Nope, mine would be tranquillised. I'm not listening to their crying and whinging. Evil or Very Mad

Grrrr kids on planes......actually, it's more babies on planes. Imagine not having slept in some 37 hours, you've just done your mandatory 3-4 hours in the airport, hoping to finally get some shut eye on the 12 hour flight you have ahead of you, you sit down, belt up, blanket on, pillow up the window, close your eyes...........then

"WAAAAAAHHHHHHH WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHW WAW WA AW W WA AHAW HWAAW WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"

Stinging like acid in my ears at regular intervals for the next hour or so till someone has the common fucking decency to fuck off elsewhere on the plane. Seriously, unless you are emigrating, why take a fucking baby on a plane, it;s not like it will remember it;s trip to disneyland or wherever, and chances are if you are going somewhere hot it's just going to irritate the shit out of it anyway.

So yeah, babies have literally had me trembling with anger on a plane, I can't say I've been bothered by kids much, the only other trouble has been from some pissed irish blokes who were arguing for about 3 hours before more or less squaring up to each other, some pissed up yank who sat in the wrong seat and wasn't happy about being moved swinging for the other passenger, and general groups of blokes who were also pissed. And girls with annoying laughs who appear to be laughing for no reason.

Oh and as for being moved, I'd tell them to fuck right off, move the kids if they have a problem with it.

Would you tranquilise them if they were crying and whinging in the house?

FWIW, we travelled back from Aus with a 1 month old baby, and a 2 1/2 year old daughter. Both were fine, think we had one epidose of 5 min crying from the baby due to trapped wind. My partner put huge effort into making sure that there was stuff to amuse the elder for the flight, wrapping up little toys as presents, plenty of books etc etc, and we were both focussed on keeping the kids happy.

Having said that, one family had a kid who was going nuts for the final 20 mins of descent, screaming, wailing, totally inconsolable. That was a bit annoying, but it is mostly the parent's fault, which is pretty much the answer for all badly behaved or overly emotional kids.

If you fly with one of the budget carriers you end up with folk sitting on your lap anyway. Atleast if its a kid, you're not going to get overly squashed.

I agree with the whole babies on planes thing though, except I would extend that to babies anywhere. I think babies should be kept in special infant centres for the first five years (don't worry, parents would be allowed to visit them.) The idea is, to stop said parents from taking their wailing off-spring to places where a) they'll never appreciate anyway, b) will wail and scream unthusiastically and c) will no doubt leak profusely and smell horrid.

The story does bring a new slant to the idea of in-flight entertainment though...

I agree, make the child move, the child dident pay for their own seat and the guardians paid less than the potential peado.

GhostRider: You are likely a biker yes? What excuse do you have for not packing a set of earplugs in your handluggage? I always try and take earplugs when i know my sleep may be dependent on the noise made by others.

That said i would prefer a child to a massively fat man.

You let them in the house? Mine would be in a windowless shed and be blind and albino from living in the dark.

Does someone seriously sit in an office, think of these policies and laws and actually think they're realistic?

They're so stupid it's unbelievable. Rolling Eyes

Because if we didn't treat it as a joke, and if we didn't laugh about it we would probably cry at how badly UK society is crumbling.

Locking kids in confined spaces is a very serious issue. Very Happy

Frizl took it seriously, he managed to keep his daughter in the cellar for 24 years and have 7 babies with her, all without his wife noticing. For 12 of those years he rented a ground floor room in the house, that person also never noticed. After she'd been in the cellar for ten years (and had 4 kids) Frizel made the cellar 60% bigger, without anyone noticing. Laughing

Parents need to make their kids as unnoticeable as Frizl did. If it's possible to keep a child in a cellar for 24 years and have kids with them without anyone noticing, then it should be quite possible for parents to make their kids be quiet when in shops, on airplanes, anywhere in public really.

"The hidden cellar had two access points: a hinged door that weighed 500 kg (1,100 lb) which is thought to have become unusable over the years because of its weight, and a metal door, reinforced with concrete and on steel rails that weighed 300 kg (650 lb) and measured 1 m (3.3 ft) high and 60 cm (2 ft) wide. It was located behind a shelf in Fritzl's basement workshop, protected by an electronic code entered using a remote control unit. In order to reach this door, five locking basement rooms had to be crossed. To get to the area where Elisabeth and her children were held, eight doors in total would need to be unlocked, of which two doors were additionally secured by electronic locking devices."

That's how to lock children up. Smile
