Custom Paint Jobs

I've heard people say a custom spray job devalues your bike because people immediately think "crashed".

What if you just want to respray it?

What's the damage on a full spray job?

Powder coating wheels?

well put it this way, it cost 100 quid for my tank to get done from someone i knew,

a complete paint job can be about a 1000 quid, or more

unless you really love your bike, its just not worth doing

Best way to do it, is get another set of body panels and have them sprayed up; keep the originals for when you come to sell

My custom sprayed bike is probably worthless on the resale market.

Like I'd ever sell it anyway.

mine has a custom spray, but i love it, even if it was dropped im not too fussed becasue everything has been replaced, some of the only damage thats on the bike is on the wheels buts that through time rather than neglect, crashing.

As whats been mentioned, just do it!

The quality of the paint job also tells tales imo, a quick and dirty gloss black respray strikes me as far more suspicious than a grands worth of race paint.

i had mine (sv650s) sprayed in ford focus orange pearlesent and on cost me £300 as i knew the guy but still cheap so what if it devalues it just do and enjoy cross the bridge when you get to it

If you want to paint it, paint it.

Just don't pay for someone to write Rothmans/Repsol/Fiat/Hovis/Tena For Men all over it - they should pay you to advertise!

I got my S4 fully Sprayed with all decals painted on rather than stickers and a airbrushed nose cone and half the TDM Sprayed (nose cone and front end 2 different colours) for £800.

Man a grand on paint is a LOT of money....

Its possible to get another (quite nice) bike for that!

The bike would certainly have to be something special to inspire that treatment, and afterwards wouldn't even want to ride it

To me, if it has a cheap spray over in a solid block of colour it prob has been down the road, but as mine and chris' bike the paint has been done because its been wanted rather than its been down the road.
