advice on boots

hello guys i'm new to biking and need to aquire a decent pair of boots adequate for current conditions (ie waterproof!) i have a Black 2002 Honda NSR125 and a tight budget, any suggestions?

RST do some 100% watter proff ones never had them so i dont know my boots were like 300 so u dont want a pare like me

I can suggest you avoid the RST Vortex 2 boots. I've had 2 pairs (replaced under warranty) and both have been pretty rubbish.

I've heard lots of good things about Alt-Berg boots (a minor manufacturer). I think they are expensive, i'll be buying some soon though.

@mr.kris -nope probably not! will probably end up in that range but for now with the current bike and what not i don't really want to spend much more than about £100 if possible

I have had a pair of sidi black rain boots for about 3 years now and love them, still waterproof too. Quite understated too..

Pair of Bullson boots from Hein Gericke - about 80 quid, had mine over a year - still completely water proof, very warm Goretex lining and been faultless, they still look new

racer boots have been getting decent reviews lately. rather like a very cheap daytona.

my m8 bought some for his first boots and they look just like my daytona bandits, although im told not as comfortable but then they did cost less than half as much as mine

I bought some not so good "waterproof" boots last year, right pain in the arse. Not much worse than soaking wet, cold feet when you're riding. (though since covering them with saddle wax they've improved massively)


However, I've borrowed my mates boots a few times and I wish I had just bought them to begin with.

He says he's been out for hours in the rain with them and has never gotten wet feet - plus he picked them up for just ?40 in a sale.

I've seen them for around the ?50 mark these days, which is pretty decent - would definitely recommend them and I'll likely pick up a pair for myself in the future too!

You can get cheap boots but IMO it;s false economy any water proof ones will not stay water proof for long.


I got a pair of A* SMX4 WP's over 2 years ago, they have been brilliant and are still 100% water proof after 2 years.

To show how good they are I was washing them the other day, I Filled each boot up to the brim with warm water and then picked it up nothing was leaking out of it. and that is after 2 years. Don't bother with cheap boots if you want a pair that will be water proof for any length of time.

I've got a pair of waterproof Swift Torsion X boots which you can get on ebay for about 60quid delivered. I wore them over to Ireland for the NW200 in heavy rain and they kept my feet dry.
