is anyone here going to be at Silverstone for the F1 in a couple of weeks? Probably not, I don't get the impression many of you are that keen on F1, but should you be there, and walk past a lonely person with a board covered in F1 jewellery, stop and say hello because that will be me! Trying to sell things to punters Smile

Can you get tickets for the race on the door? How much. Got a website?

It's my understanding that F1 tickets sell out within hours of going on sale. Certainly the official outlets are all sold out by now. Only option is touts or Ebay if you want one.

But check out the prices...

Shocked Shocked Shocked

EDIT: just noticed the 'paddock club' tickets are still available if you've got the odd few thousand quid going spare...

yeah tickets are always gone by the time raceday comes along. I've been to a few other races over the years but it's not quite as exciting as it was so I don't really want to spend £100+ to watch a procession where a red car wins! Rolling Eyes

The website isn't quite up and running yet... if you want to have a look though you can look at the almost-ready site:

If anyone in the London area fancies seeing F1 cars in the flesh on a budget, I recommend getting down to Regent Street on 6th July. 16 of the cars will be parading around the streets in the area. I'm gonna be there and recommend anyone who can make it gets down. I was at the 97 F1 GP and can tell you the noise they make is louder than anything you will ever hear (unless they bring back concorde and you blag a seat on the tail fin!). Echoing off the buildings will surely deafen me, but I'm not gonna miss it for the world! See the link for more info:

Oh I don't know, the pre-90 F1 machine were louder and the old F3000 cars were louder than them because they had shorter exhausts. And the fact that the old V8 would rev their nuts off! Wink

The echo off the buildings will be really impressive though, it will depend on whether they have a long enough straight to get the revs up.

Should be an impressive sight. As I'm in London anyway I've made a note in my diary and unless something urgent crops up will definitely be there with my camera.

F1's got a bit expensive for my tastes these days. Had a good laugh at the British GP a couple of times in the 90s, but I'd rather spend the cash on a Silverstone trackday instead. Smile

Pit straight was loud cos the sound bounces off the buildings and then bounces around the grandstand. I found if you sat a bit further round it wasn't so bad.

Loudest thing ever? Try a Harrier when it's hovering. That's loud.

I'm sure they'll just rev them hard anyway. Jenson Button was doughnutting at the Goodwood Festival of Speed at the weekend on narrow roads. I'm sure a couple will get the wheels spinning and get a bit of smoke up. I forgot to mention, when I said on a budget, I meant it was free - so get there early to get a good view!
