Gsx-r6 Vs Yzf-r6

I've heard this "debate" many times now (often it ends up in an argument) but i cant seem to decide which of the two sexy beasts is better overall. If you had to pick from the two which would it be and why did you choose what you chose. Just interested to see what the majority here think.

I don't know if I'm wrong but I'm not sure there is a r6 GSXR but I dunno.

I like the look of both. GSXR looks like a bird of prey and bulky like a lion while the R6 looks like a snake and cheetah to me

R6 Without a doubt. Ive owned both. The gsxr is so boring with the power delivery and its bulkier and turns in slower. The r6 is more track focused id imagine with little power below 8k but after that it flies until 16k redline.

You dont buy bikes like gsxrs and r6s to ride sedattely so go for the more aggressive of the two.

My srad 600 has about the same feel and handling as my 2001 ninja, but the r6 just feels right.

It'll look after you too. I smashed into an audi at NSL, landed on my head and broke my finger. A better bike and fairy godmother protectiion? You know what to choose

Ok so that doesn't apply to everything of course, but it does most definitely apply to 600cc Japanese sportsbike choice

If its brand new get a ZX6R, the 09's onwards are really good bikes!

I had an 06 R6 before the CBR1000RR and loved it, very track focused but awesome

If I went back to a 600s it'd be a B1H, having to rev past 10k to go anywhere is just asking for trouble imho.

I love it people ask specific questions, and then everyone else comes and posts how good theirs is irrespective of the bikes in question.

R6, McGee may be along soon wanking over GSXR's again but there is only 1 true beast - Don't forget Yamaha also made the '98 R1.

I forgot to say the year of the model. Not that sure actually, generally what bike would you choose i guess. I know that the r6 has the worst low end power of all 600 sport bikes, but is a winner in the track. the gixxer has a better all around power band, which gives it a good riding experience.

I like the look of the R6 (even more the R1) but (being a bit vertically challenged vis-a-vis a shortarse) I found the ride height took me out of my comfort zone a bit too much.
I ended up test riding the 600rr against the Gixxer - both were awesome and the CBR probably edged it performance wise but the Gixxer was definately the better ride. This was important as I use it to commute everyday.

I believe there is little to pick performance wise between the different 600 sports fraternity (nothing that a bit of riding ability couldn't compensate for) hence its down to personal preference - ride comfort, feel, style etc.

For the record, I've owned the Gixxer for 4 months now and everytime I take it for a ride it never fails to deliver

Needless to say that sealed the deal.

I'd go for the R6 hands down, if i ever bought one i'd go for a 08 onwards as there was a big improvement on the mid-range (as per bike mags)

love to get one on the track.. looks tiny.. the Suzuki doesn't really get me very excited although no question its a fab bike..

The k1 and srad handling would be near enough identical as they share most of the same parts. Not sure about the engine though. I cant imagine you'd feel the difference of a couple of hp though.
K4 was the major redesign.

I'd go for a SRAD given the choice....

I like the look of the SRAD better and the way matt describes the R6's power delivery sounds like exactly what I don't want in a bike.

I like to trundle around a low revs rather than have to scream around everywhere....
