I highly doubt this is legal, however if it is then it would make an excellent cheap commuter. So, is it legal to ride it on the roads? Would it be possible to ride it without Tax/MOT and Insurance?

It's a moped so it needs tax, insurance, mot, numberplate, helmet and all the other shit that goes with it.

Engine capacity >50cc, so it's a motorcycle - meaning even more shit than a moped.

In that case I'm surprised that anyone would spend the time bothering to build one. Must be friendly with the local bobby's or something?? I dunno....

I would still call this a motorised pedal bike or moped rather than a motorcycle because it still has the pedals!

I'm sure that as long as vehicle registration, MOT, tax and insurance were sought you could ride the thing on a CBT. In it's current state though, not so much!

Must be under 50cc to be a moped.

Would probably be a nightmare to get that road registered. Would need SVA and would expect it to need a speedo for not, plus a chain guard and numerous things would need to be rounded off to avoid their idea of what a sharp object is. Also fairly sure to need lights, electric horn, etc.
