SP1 Tyres

Now then, I need some new tyres for my SP1.

I was thinking of getting the tyres I got for my CBR6 last time, Pirelli Diablo Corsa's. Theres anter tyre i was thinking of, just cant remember the name? there a duel compound type? CS2'?.... not sure

Possibly pilot power 2ct's?

Have a set of 2ct's on mine, can't really fault them. Plenty of grip and confidence compared to the bridgestones I had before.

Corsas are fine, so are normal Diablos. I find 2CT's quite expensive so stick with the cheaper Diablos Also Corsa III's are dual compound.

Standard fitment is 120/70 front and 190/50 rear. Fitting a 190/55 will help it turn quicker, but may cause a problem if you have a tightly fitting hugger. A lot of people fit 180/55's but they're technically designed for 5.5inch rims not 6 inch rims, reason people go for 180/55's is because 190/55's are normally more expensive

I need something that wont rip up easily and will last yet still be able to do the milage. Is it worth getting duel compond tires is the centre noticably harder? (do a bit of motorway miles)
Or spend less and get some normal corsa diablos instead of Corsa III or 2CTs?

As i mentions i have had Corsa's before, so leaning towards them atm.

I presume you both have had RC51s before? have you swapped the 190 to a 180?

Pilot Power 2CTs

The Pirellis are fine tyres, but the Michelins are perfect for the SP-1. They come in standard Pilot Power and Pilot Power 2CT versions. The 2CT are dual compound and last very well.

Stick to the 190s, may not be needed for acceleration but essential on heavy engine braking with no slipper clutch.

I've not fitted a 180/55 as I got a set of supercorsas pretty cheap last summer. Theres nothing wrong with a 50 profile, but the 55 deffo turns quicker, plus its meant to have a bigger contact patch on the side.

I currently run old Corsa front and a normal Diablo rear, does everything I want for the road, plus like I said, the price is right. Got 3,800miles from a Corsa rear, but those were all fun twisty miles, no major motorway stuff.

And the other question, anyne know where i can get cheap tires. Best i have found so far is ebay. For a set looking at £200-£220? that the going price? deffo got to get them off line, I know somewho who fits them for a £5 a wheel

A pair of Michelin Pilot Powers comes to £182.

They also have pair deals for Pilot Powers, but for some reason, it's £2 more expensive than if you put the tyres in the basket separately.

i stuck a set of michelin pilot road 2cts on the b1h, excellent grip in all weather and should last a hell of a long time compared to full on sport tyres being dual compound

I have KD on these just fine, so plenty of grip

read some people have gotten from 5-8k from a rear! shame i wont be able to benefit from them as i have to sell the bike after only 1500miles on them!

i have 016's on my 12r and there very good but pricey like the 2ct's

If I had have kept it through the winter I'd have probably gone to a pair of Roadsmarts, they coped nicely with the Futura's similar levels of torque and engine breaking just fine.

I'll second the Pilot 2cts though, a couple of mates swear by them and even the regular pilot powers my 9 came with have done the bike proud despite the awful conditions.

Mildly on topic, have you had a go at the remote on the rear shock? That probably won't help wear levels, if your going to splash out on some top notch rubber it might be worthwhile getting that looked at first

hmmm super maxxis, forgot about them. but at the same time i dont know much and how good thier tyres are.

just i have used Corsas before and 2CTs are reccomended on here.
