I want to go watch a bike race this year but I'm not sure what. Ideally I'd like to go watch WSB but it's in September so the weather might be a bit crap.

Is it worth paying £55 for Moto GP? or Should I just go to the first round of BSB at Brands and pay £24?

If you want cheap and easy, could always pop along to a local club race when the weather's nice - cheaper, no queues, sit/stand where you want and wander around the paddock.

Go to somewhere like Brands Indy and you get a really good view of all the racing from most places.
Some high quality and very fast racing, though may not be names you recognise - but then I don't really follow any 'big' racing, so doesn't make a big difference to me.

I'd say the weather in September is usually as good as any time, going by the last few years, it's may / june / july that's generally crap!!

For a spectator BSB at Brands will be better than WSB at Silverstone. Everyone should see MotoGP in the flesh though, even once, as nothing sounds like a GP bike (and TV in no way does it justice).

If it was just me I'd definitely go for Moto GP but my family want to come so £55 x 4 gets quite expensive plus petrol to get there.

Hmm I'm not sure Thinking

i must admit i love the GP, but only because im a huge fan of rossi, wouldnt go again if he wasnt in it!
WSBK is much better to watch live for the exitment, veiw, atmosphere, and sound, but costs almost as much as the GP.
BSB is good, sounds awsome and is cheaper than the other 2,
i supose it depends on who your a fan of?
club racing is great to watch for the racing it just dosnt have the frills of a pro meet,

oh another plus for bsb and club racing is that paddock entry is free!

Not strictly true for BSB, it depends which circuit you go to. For example, without a pass you will not get into the paddock at Mallory. Likewise, you'll only get into the secondary paddock at Brands Hatch (not the main one where all the superbike teams are). Many tracks vary.

It might be a little far from you down there in the smoke but if not - go road racing! I don't know a biker who has watched it who hasn't loved it. They have three meetings a season at Oliver's Mount in Scarborough, or you could go across the water. The first in Scarborough is on April 18. I've never been (though I plan to this year) but as I understand it entry to the 'circuit' is free, so just travel to arrange.

How do they manage to have a 'gate' into public roads? Are the roads fenced off then but with the gate left open during the rest of the year? Oh well, I'll still be going.

Thruxton is a good spectator track, plus you can get to pits to see the riders. Thumbs Up Next BSB event at Thruxton is next weekend 18th April, it's £22.

Much as I like trackdays, now I've been spoilt by being a guest of a Supersport team, and mooching about behind pits with access all areas pass, I'm not sure I'd be happy being t'other side again... Confused (back to being a mere spectator).

You can get in the paddock, not the pits (except during the pitlane walk, which happens at almost all the other circuits too) Wink
