2006 Honda XL650V Transalp LAMS Restrictor Removal !

I have recently purchased a 2006 Honda XL650V Transalp which i was not aware until after purchase is a LAMS approved bike.
Have been told that it has metal washer restrictors in some tubing around or near airbox ? And that removal of these restrictors gives both better performance & fuel economy ?
Can anyone give advice on this ?
Also has anyone done this removal that can guide me through what to look for & where etc please.

Google comes up with absolutely nothing to do with de-restricting this bike. So sorry, but I'm not sure. I haven't heard this is true though. I've ridden a transalp before and it was definitely not restricted.

Looks like LAMS (Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme) is something they have in Australia allowing new riders to ride a bike over 250cc - I assume it's like our A2 licence. His profile says he's from Oz.

Gaz - I'd imagine if there is a washer it will be inbetween the airbox and throttle body inlet, have you had the airbox off to have a look?
