Does anybody here currently train in MMA (mixed martial arts for those who don't know) in the Sunderland or Durham areas?

Reason I ask is that over the last few years I've become more and more interested in competing. I have also gotten very out of shape too and would like to get back in shape.

Anybody know of any MMA gyms? I know of Spartan Fighting Arts Academy and have emailed them but would like to know of any more. I have Googled BTW but didn't find a great deal of info (or was at least unable to sort it from the guff).

Many thanks,
Darren.

Get yourself down to Hendon, and hang around in a Newcastle shirt, you should get plenty of practice then....

I would beat myself up never mind any Hendon lads. I did once walk through Eldon Square in Newcastle with a Sunderland shirt on....half of them probably thought I supported Southampton or Sheffield United.

Isn't Ian Freeman's club still going? If you can travel a bit further there used to be quite a thriving mma scene in darlington - at least a couple of clubs IIRC.

I suppose if it's only a couple of times a week then maybe I could. Thanks for the heads up about Darlington, I had no idea.

I'm surprised you're surprised. I was born in Darlo. There's fuck all else to do there except fight.
I can't vouch for the quality of the clubs as i've never trained at them and don't live up that way anymore, i'll have a word with my cousin, he's still a Darlo boy and he used to train somewhere local.
