Illegal without a Front Mudgaurd?

My front mudguard has come loose, and i wont be able to get a new bolt until the weekend (Must have vibrated off) so is it illegal to just remove it? Dont want it to snap off or something when im on the road :/

Not Illegal unless removing it 'removes structural integrity of the suspension unit'

So basically, If you take it out an the forks flex more than before (put the front wheel in between your legs and turn the bars) then its illegal, but also down to the discretion of a MOT tester or qualified vehicle inspector.

You'l probably get away with it, unless a copper dislikes it enough to get in inspected, and its then deemed dangerous by the tester, then its fine.

I think it would fail an MOT but I doubt the police would even care and you would get away with it long enough to fix it lol.

You need a fork brace, which on a bike with normal forks is a job the front mudguard does.

The whole mudgaurd is plastic, i doubt it's giving any structural support at all.

Kept it on when i went the cinema, but at speed it wobbles around all over the place, and any bump makes a god awful noise. Gonna remove it for when i go to college tomorrow, fairly short journey (10 Mins tops) and never see any plod on the way. Just really dont want it to catch on the tyre and snap off or anything Rolling Eyes
