Night ride in London

Just came back from an unintentional ride around London. Spent about an hour (10 - 11pm) just riding around and seeing all the touristy spots. Was supposed to go straight back home but I had one pint in the pub, started going home, took a wrong turn, and got carried away by the sights. It's such an amazing city at night. Everything looks bloody awesome.

Well just thought i'd share. If any of you haven't experienced London at night on a bike when all the traffic has calmed then I reccommend it.. Especially after riding in rush hour earlier in the day there's a feeling of peace and quiet.

Anyhow here is a pic (not mine) that It kinda looked like tonight, im sure I could have taken some wicked photos if i had a camera with me.

Myself and a few mates took a might trip to London a year or so back, 2 cars and me on my bike, just seeing all the sights, we had stopped just outside St.Pauls cathedral when the police arrived en masse and held us under anti-terrorism laws, my friends camera was seized (although given back at the scene), and they did checks on every one of us, we were held for well over half an hour before being told to leave the city and that we would be followed by CCTV to make sure we did.

We did nothing illegal at all they were being arseholes about every little thing, clearly looking for something to charge somebody with, luckily all the cars were legit etc... anyway it was enough to put us off going back like that again.

Shame because as you say the city is really cool at night.

A friend's dad and his missus decided to go for a ride on his Norton many years ago... they headed out from South Wales... went all the way to London, did a lap of the middle of Piccadilly Circus (when that was still possible) and then headed for home.

I love riding around London at night. I've had the chance to a couple of times now and each time it's inspiring. The two hour long ride home afterwards isn't so much but the city lights make it worth it.
