When i get back onto a bike, i'll have to do this pretty much daily... Including the traffic island dodge...

I don't know what it's like where you are, but the Popo down here had a few sting days last year, specifically targeting people riding on the wrong side of those little islands. They hung out at a couple of notorious locations and made a killing. I can't say I've noticed a reduction in people doing it since, but I'm a bit more cautious in terms of making sure I'm not being watched.

The only other comment I would make, is that while the oncoming traffic side of the road is empty, I'd be using more of it, keeping more distance between me and the crawling traffic to my left. Just gives you a little more time in the event of a loony U-turner.

The island hopping is a basic no-no, but the rest is ok to a point, as long as you are doing it with caution, showing that caution with the use of good effective observations, use appropriate speed, not being erratic, be smooth and if you do find a bottle neck slip back into the traffic flow.
As with all driving/riding common sense is the basic tool in the box.

I think part of the reason the islands should be respected is that they are often a refuge for pedestrians who might not look the wrong way.

As long as you are taking care and prepared to stop then it certainly seemed ok. But I personally wouldnt attempt the traffic island if the police were around. Laughing

As has been said, island is the only no-no, but why are you filtering so close to the traffic?? there is nothing coming the other way (for much of the time) ... you are on the wrong side of the road anyway ... nothing coming why not get some 'distance' when you can?!!? Thinking

The perspective on the camera makes it look like i'm really close to the traffic, when i'm not really.

If it was on the other side of the helmet it'd be more obvious Thumbs Up

But yeah, i leave plenty room, and go pretty slow.
