wassup people, ive recently been asked by a family friend if i want to go to the northwest 200 event. has anyone been to this event before. what did you think. im going to be riding from buckinghamshire and meeting some people in middlesbrough and then getting a ferry from stranraer. can anyone recommend a cheap place to stay? cheers ashwin

NW isn't just about the race, it's about the whole week, and the area around portrush is pretty scenic. There's a large student population from Coleraine university, and as such the night life is great.

I'm not sure, but I'd imagine most places would be booked out by now, but you can try. Alot of people camp.

Also, you need to get yourself into position pretty early to get a good spot, and be willing to sit there all day so you don't loose it.

Police are pretty tough on public drinking in very public areas (York, Metropol etc) but in quieter areas it's usually fine.
