Was thinking of the possibility of a NEW bike and was wondering what is reasonable to ask the dealer to throw in with the sale?

What sort of kit/extras have you guys managed to blag?

Givi top box, Oxford chain and ground anchor (although knowing how crap those chains are, I'd go for Almax!). Thumbs Up

A mate of mine haggled a helmet, jacket, and trousers and gloves.

It never hurts to haggle as much as you can, be cheeky - it's stupid British stiff upper lip reservedness that stops us getting bargains. Thumbs Up

Most I got was a free cover for te bike. Keeps the damp off it a bit.

When I bought mine (pre-reg) I got top box, rack, scottoiler touring kit and crash bungs. With my previous bike (again, used) I got crash bungs, paddock stand, chain, disk lock and ground anchor.

Just keep pushing them. The worst they can do is say no. If you don't ask you don't get. It's all about having the cheek/balls to ask.

What we brits have to realise is that you can be as cheeky as you want to be with sales people. At no point will a good sales-person turn around and tell you he won't sell you something because you've haggled too much.

They need our money more than we need to give it to them! If you get a grumpy git in one dealership, head to another one. Ring around all the local dealers and play them off against each other. Even go so far as to ring all the dealers in the next big town... With good haggling you can save hundreds, so well worth a 60mile trip if it comes to it

I managed to get 200quid knocked off a 900quid bike by waving cash at the salesman. I'm yet to buy a car from a dealer without the proper manufacturer floor mats+full tank of fuel+years tax+1 free service at the very least (and thats after haggling the price down!). I usually go for the branded pens and keyrings too.

Once you've got everything you want, and you want the last few quid off, just say the price you'll pay and simultaneously thrust your hand out to shake his... 3/5times they'll shake yours automatically and get that look of "oh shit Shocked I just knocked more money off!"

Tank of petrol, tax, front and rear carbon mudguards, money off exhaust, free fitting for them all, tank pad, 1 years servicing [but that was a dealer offer anyway] and a fleece as I walked out of the shop that caught my eye... Cool

There's no such thing as a dealer freebie. They're money grabbing parasites and will still be profiting hugely from you, even if you do manage to extract a few extra trinkets from them Wink

Apart from haggling for at least an hour & half to get the part ex price i wanted on my old bike..... I also got a Meta Alarm/immobiliser and a dual port titanium Blueflame can chucked in with my Bandit. I also moaned about only getting 6 months tax with the bike so they upped it to 12.

I got the ABS version of my bike for the price of the standard version, plus free fitting of alarm and immobiliser. That was on top of the 0% finance deal Kawasaki were doing.

I got £100 knocked off the price of my new bike, then £50 taken off the cost of the alarm I had fitted. Im not very good at haggling! They did give me a lanyard thingy and free L plates though.

Think about the things you actually want on the bike, and how much it would cost you to add them separately. It's often easier to get £200 worth of accessories than it is to get £100 off. Of course this is because the accessories don't cost the dealer £200, but they might cost you that much....
For example, I was already going to get an autocom along with my sprint, but managed to get one "thrown in" and fully wired in rather than save another £50 on the asking price. Nice one, especially given that they installed the super-pro-avi kit and gave me a 2nd headset for the missus because that was the only model they had in stock!!!!
