I know you pays your money and you takes your choice but are there any that are good value for money, suitable for motorcycle valves? I'm not bothered about using it on cars if that helps.

I'm restoring a 1983 Honda CB125 for a family member and the engine needs a rebuild. This is my first engine rebuild and I'm keen to build up some decent kit that could be used on this and other bikes in the future (hopefully I won't make such a mess of this one that I'm not put off for life!).

Cheers.

I have used a few and find that for most bikes G clamp style compressor are ok, if a bit slow and fiddely. Even the cheap ones would be more than fine for the CB. You can get table mounted spring compressors which work brilliantly but are a tad more money. It all depends on how often you are going to be using it Thumbs Up

I thought i was the only one that did that.

Why buy the proper tool when you can improvise for free?

Free would normally get my vote but if I need a die from a tap and tie set (if I'm thinking about the right thing) then I don't have one of those either.

If those G clamp ones do the trick I'll get one of those - I was just worried in case I needed a special one for bike valves.
