Hey all, a long shot i know (yes i know he might not even use the internet ect), but i know theres quite a few bikers who use forums and a few from round my way are on here so i thought id give it a shot and hell there isnt anything else going on here in the winter .
Anyway about 1pm this afternoon, i was following a yellow 748 around long eaton, we waited at the trainline and i pulled up behind him. The barriers went up and we shot off, upon coming to a sharp left hand bend i was a bit behind him at this point, i took it, and on the other side he had come off..
anyway long story short the doctor arrived, i got his helmet and boot off for them, his ankle looked in pretty bad shape but he was kitted out in a one piece with proper gear.
i just wanted to check he was ok, we ended up moving his 748 to the side of the road to be recovered, looks like it needs a new right hand bar, front screen and some scratches..
hope your ok man, and heres the obligatory "bikers paint diagram"
His name is Tim btw

First time I've seen a thread on here about someone I know - Tim is my best mate's Dad
He is still in hospital, and has had some serious metalwork put into his ankle - it is quite a bad break. I've been told he was on brand new tyres when he crashed, which might explain what happened.
I will pass on your regards! |

Because it's a lot easier to take it off before the leg starts to swell up.
A few years ago I crashed and landed on my hand & arm. A passer-by, who happened to be a doctor, immediately removed my gloves, and good thing he did, as by the time the ambulance arrived, my left hand was almost twice its normal size, so they would have had to cut my glove off. That was in Italy, though; they never cut the bike gear unless they absolutely have to: I was x-rayed in my jacket and trousers, as they didn't want to remove them in case I had spinal injuries, nor did they want to cut them off me. |
At the same time though, if you've got a broken ankle then the boot acts as a great splint to help keep things in place.
Also leaving the boot in place will result in less swelling than if you were to take it off. I'd rather have my boot cut off as it's done it's job. |

Hello James. You should pop round on your bike for a coffee and a chat sometime. I only live round the corner too. It would be good to give you the big pat on the back that you deserve. The camaraderie is one of the nice things about biking. Thanks James.
Cheers,tim.
