Ducati 748 Down, Long Eaton, Notts :(

Hey all, a long shot i know (yes i know he might not even use the internet ect), but i know theres quite a few bikers who use forums and a few from round my way are on here so i thought id give it a shot and hell there isnt anything else going on here in the winter .

Anyway about 1pm this afternoon, i was following a yellow 748 around long eaton, we waited at the trainline and i pulled up behind him. The barriers went up and we shot off, upon coming to a sharp left hand bend i was a bit behind him at this point, i took it, and on the other side he had come off..

anyway long story short the doctor arrived, i got his helmet and boot off for them, his ankle looked in pretty bad shape but he was kitted out in a one piece with proper gear.

i just wanted to check he was ok, we ended up moving his 748 to the side of the road to be recovered, looks like it needs a new right hand bar, front screen and some scratches..

i live on Draycott road seems theres a few around our way we should get some people for a rideout at some point

Quite bizarrely I towed this very Ducati away from this accident. That was you then Picotto getting on the other bike when I arrived.

First time I've seen a thread on here about someone I know - Tim is my best mate's Dad

He is still in hospital, and has had some serious metalwork put into his ankle - it is quite a bad break. I've been told he was on brand new tyres when he crashed, which might explain what happened.

I wouldn't have thought the doctor would have removed the boot on scene unless there was evidence of bleeding.

My mate asked me to say thanks for stopping picotto - Tim can't remember who called the ambulance but thinks it was probably you!

He was due to go home today but the physio isn't happy so he's still in hospital - hopefully out tommorrow.

Hi Thom,
Its amazing how things get around this electonic grapevine. I was wondering who the good guy was that helped out. I thought it would have been the biker that was behind me but the bit I remember when he was saying cheerio, he had no jacket or helmet so I thought he was in a car. If that makes sense.
I have thanked him on the ducastisti website, pointing out what a good job he must have done removing my boots. The consultant said that although it was a bad double fracture no bones were dislocated at all, so there was very little ligament damage. Which sounds good to me. I was shown the x-rays and suprised at the amount of screws used, at least 14 and 2 plates. Not much room left for bone! I guess they know what they are doing.
Had plaster fitted yesterday, go back in 5 weeks. Only trouble is I am supposed to keep foot elevated above hip level.
You were right about the tyres Thom the back just let go then gripped. I think i had a low speed mini high side. Must have looked hilarious from the back! bit I dont remember a chunk between the "flick" and my friend James is it? saying goodbye. I remember everything after that.
Anyway lets see what he says!!!
