https://www.bmoaonline.com/images/oddphotos/Rocket%203/rocket3.htm

When you think the new Yamaha R1 produces 76.7ft.Ib of torque @10,500rpm, this nutty machine has 147ft.Ib of torque at 2,500 rpm!!!!

Now that is highside material!!!!!!!

I know it is a completely different bike to the R1, I am just amazed at that amount of torque out of any bike is actually safe to ride! Confused

I saw a Rocket at Willingham Wood a couple of weeks ago. It looked pretty cool, especially with that huge engine, it was disappointing quiet when it left though Sad

Saw my first Rocket 3 on the A64 (York ring road) on Friday before it took the Hull slip road. Certainly got 'presence' - it's big, big, big. Reminded me of a naked GoldWing Smile
I hadn't thought about a cruiser before... now not that sure Confused Wink

Read the road test in the MCN printed 2 weeks ago if you can, i'm sure it would change your mind. It sounds awesome, I would have one as a second bike, would be brilliant to 'cruise' on. Very Happy

oh yes, I know someone who has ridden one and he was well impressed

and he's not easily impressed

he also has a turbo busa

and a carbon 1500 busa which makes nearly as much torque as the Rocket, has over 200bhp and weighs less than a new CBR600

I tell you now, supercharged or turbocharged it will be an awesome drag bike, however lardy it looks Twisted Evil

I would love one as a second bike! As I say, how safe can that be with all that grunt so low down. It will bite you if you are not paying attention or get a little carried away with the throttle.

I'll bet when abused that rear tire wont last much past 1000 miles, and i bet the thing costs a fortune to replace!
Neutral

I think its great of triumph to have the balls to make something so different and extreme. Maybe it will catch on, probably it won't. Either way you can bet it will turn heads and that some nutter will tune one to hell and slap a big turbo on it Very Happy

140bhp from 2.3l? in this day and age that's abominable! (specific output at 61bhp/litre)

in fact, it'd be better off powering a car, surely?

only joking really - horses for courses . . .

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.
