Hi guys, need your eyes.

Just got back from a night out to find my bike's gone. It's a Suzuki GSXR 400, 1992 model, red and white with a distinctive, and unique, "five" on the plastic by the the passenger seat. As far as I know plastics or paintwork were replaced after a spill so that back end is totally unique.

The area is Lenton in Nottingham, specifically Rothesay avenue.

It was stolen between 21:30 and 03:20am, 30th-31st of January 2010.

I'm unbelievably gutted. Only had third party insurance and don't have the money to replace it but it's totally essential to me. I don't know what I'm going to do without it. If anyone has any information, sightings, or even local knowledge of street gangs or where the pikeys take bikes to strip, please get in contact with me.

Have called the police and given details, they say they'll "watch for it."

Like I say, even the tiniest bit of information would be appreciated like you wouldn't believe. I love that bike.

Thanks
James

Update, we found it. Me and a housemate went out looking for it and about an hour later he found it parked a couple roads down. Not too much damage I don't think, apart from of course a broken steering lock and subsequent buggered up ignition. There's also a pretty strong smell of petrol coming from it. Couldn't find anything visible but I'll have another check in the morning.

Gonna get the local garage to come pick it up, in the meantime it's been locked up in a very secure location.

I'm still pretty fucking livid. Going to ring the police tomorrow and call them off whatever amazingly efficient hunt they're on (sure). Still, if anyone noticed anything, knows anything about local jobbers, or just hears someone boasting about some bike they pushed down the road, please let me know. I'd love to dob in the fuckers responsible.

Anyway, good news I guess, of sorts. Least they didn't crash or burn it.

Lesson learnt. I'm going to buy a new fat chain, an alarm, cctv, and a shotgun. Should cost as much a new bike but I'll sleep easier.

Glad to hear you got it back mate, I know from personal experience what it's like to see your bike gone.

Good news that it doesn't seem badly damaged, hope it wont cost much to get her up and running again.

Thumbs Up

Great news that you found it in one piece, nice looking bike. It's because of thieving gits like this that I go to the trouble of keeping my bike in my flat.

Your lucky you got it back. Wish I found mine a few streets away. It's a real awful feeling when you go to get on bike and it's gone.

Cheers guys. Just heard back from the garage today, needs a new top yoke and ignition barrel so thats about ?350. Proper gutting as I need new tires too and they'll run me another ?170.

Still, its less than a new bike would cost at least.

Thanks for the good words

A new OE ignition barrel for my bike (Honda) costs c?110. I got my pattern-part ignition barrel - from the self-same Honda dealership as was going to sell me the OE one - for ~?30 (it sticks out more, but works just as well otherwise). Had to go get it changed for another one though as it didn't actually fit (apparently although they may list your bike they may not actually fit it from time to time). Just an idea for you to save money if cost is an issue.
