It's not so much about crashing. More to do with being crashed into.

Car's not seeing you / not looking.

You also don't have the acceleration in a car as you do on a bike.

I personally think car's are more dangerous, cars kill and injure far more pedestrians than bikes.

Plus I don't like the idea of getting trapped in a car if you crash it. Confused

Atleast on a bike you'll get thrown off not get trapped in it!

I feel safer riding the bike from the perspective of controlling the thing and having good visibility. Being smaller generally makes it easier to get around. Then obviously there's the unsafe side as to being hard to see which obviously leads to falling off and either hitting something solid or crossing the path of oncoming traffic.

If I was the only road user I'd feel safer on the bike. But in reality I feel safer in a car. I have access to both car and bike but I always take the bike every time.

Cars are safer, with bikes it seems to be pot luck in an accident, all depending on speed and what you hit and what protection you have. Mind you I wouldn't fancy my chances in my car.

Yep and hit something and die.

G, Dusty and Ste all survived due to the protection that the car gave them Karma

I think bike riders are just generally better and more alert than other road users. On a bike you realise how vulnerable you are on the road but some people in cars think they are 100% safe Confused and it gives them a kind of immortal attitude and take more risks.

hehe, yeah really safe when you fly head first at 30 mph into a lamp post. Or worse.

The question is what is safer, car or bike not what do you feel safer in a car or on a bike...

cars are safer for lots of reasons. Bikes have lots of benefits, which is why we ride, but they are definitely not as safe as cars.

Totaly Thumbs Up when you see head on crashes of 50mph plus it starts to get messy, from their on you have limited chances even in a big luxury barge. This attitude of invincibility is also dangerous to other people Neutral

Well I feel safer on a bike.
Just my opinion, its not that I don't feel safe in a car, its just I always feel really ill when I get in car and end up nearly falling asleep, its a good job I don't drive that often isn't it. Laughing

Yes but this is about which is safer, car or bike. Not which you feel safer on.

You can't generalise IMO - it all depends on the accident.

There are going to be scenarios when one is better than the other. In general, it's going to be car = safer, but not always.

There are also accidents which simply wouldn't happen if you were using the other vehicle.

You can't highside a car, nor can you spin a bike.

With a car (provided you've got your belt on) you're staying with that thing until it stops moving. With a bike, it's the exact opposite. Sometimes staying is the way to go, other times you'd be better off outta there.

Indeed. Top Gear at its finest!

If your car falls into a lake, get the fock out as quick as you can, as soon as the entire car is submerged you've pretty much had it.

It seems that the lovely pressure equalisation thing is in fact pants and you'd have run out of oxygen long before you'd have a chance to get the door open - as it has to both fill and actually hit the bottom of whatever you've fallen into.

So now the concensus is to get the door or window open as soon as you can and just get out before it sinks too far or the pressure becomes too great to open the door.

Twas on Top Gear, they chucked the little one in a tank and tried to drown him. Thumbs Up
