Hi I'm thinking of buying a new Kawasaki 250R Ninja and wondered if any one has any views on this bike. I'm 37 not a 17yr old wanting to thrash the nuts off it but i want a genuine opinion from fellow owners, thank's

Wouldnt waste the cash, you arent restricted to 33hp for your whole life, it will get VERY boring after the restriction period and you WILL want a newer bike.

Its probably better for you to get a ZX6R and restrict it.

Why do you have a restricted license if you are 37?

Fortunatly i have not owned pne, although i did own the original ZXR250 its a different kettle of fish.

As above though, I'm not sure I'd buy one new and I'm not sure it'd be best choice

When you do want a new bike, you've got to consider who's going to buy it from you - I wouldn't imagine resales that's great? I could be wrong but most people will buy a bigger bike and restrict for the same reasons as Paddy's suggesting.

He may not want to ride a full power sports bike? My dad rides my sisters bike allot, he's 56 and only ever ridden a 125 when he was 17. He said himself that he wouldn't want to get a full power sports bike because he'd kill himself on it. I still worry about him riding around on the 125 because he doesn't listen to anything I tell him and keeps doing stupid things on it.

I say go for it, I had one for a year, couldnt fault it, 12,000 miles without hassle. Even did a trackday on mine and it coped fine!

I'd say do it if YOU like it.
They're modern and as such would be as reliable as any other jap bike. Not to mention here in Australia, I think they topped the 250 sales last year. So that must mean something.
I pass quite a few locally, more so than any other bike.
I started riding at 30 (now 35) and did a year on a 250gpx and was happy to get to know the ropes on something that wasn't going to kick me off if I was a little ham fisted with it.
At 37 you would know the wisdom in learning to walk before you run.
You probably also know you're not invincible.
So, take your time, get something easy to ride that you like the look of and get out there.
The journey of learning is something I've learned to enjoy as I've gotten older Smile
