Long story short, had some sh*t at work today, finished, seen it was relatively sunny and went for a blast to let off some steam...

Went to my favourite bit of road and properly nailed it/ acted like a tw*t/nearly killed myself.

Now I'm always careful not to do this [for obvious reasons] but I couldn't help it today, but the sense of release was awesome! The adrenaline kicking in, coupled with the first 'nice' day for a while made for one of my best rides in a long while...

Looking back now, it probably was not the best of ideas [although I don't have anywhere near enough ability to take a bike to its limit].

So anyone else gone on a hoon to let off steam and found it strangely addictive? Confused

I used to start arguments with the girlfriend just so I could go off in a huff and blast about the lanes lol.

ive always found im more of a dick when im in a mood or angry, start cutting people up if they are too slow, or if someone say gives the finger, i give the boot.

Im not usually like that, so I cage it up when im in a huff.... cars a bit more fun if its soaking wet too Wink

No matter how angry i ride, people still laugh at me. Kinda pisses on my bonfire.

Serious now: If i'm really really angry i tend to ride slow. Guess i'm lucky. I'm quite an angsty sorta person so i wait till i'm home and hit inanimate objects and play my drums or guitar.
In the past i had little self control and did do stupid driving tho.

In fact i'll take this opportunity to say sorry to the cars i've spat on, and the passengers i've stressed out. Embarassed

If I've got a grump on sometimes I find it works better for me if I just pootle along and take a nice cruise.
If I go the other route I tend to get worse, not better.

Still I don't possess a real temper, so the best it gets for me is mildly annoyed Very Happy

I had two offs while riding angry, due to the aggressive way I rode. It's a very bad idea. Though strangely in both cases I received very large payouts from the other drivers' insurance.

I tend to ride better if I'm in a mood, I'm not sure why because really it should be the exact opposite.

I seem to be a little bit sharper with it all. I try not to go out when angry - but on the occasions I have I've rode really fast but never came back thinking fuck that was a bit close etc.

I think I ride so fast because that way everything else is irrelevant and isn't in my mind. If I go out and ride slowly then my mind still has time to think about stuff rather than just the task at hand, riding the bike.

Only times I ever occasionally screw up is when riding to the clock - i.e. Got to get somewhere by X time, set off late and need to make it up, if I know where I'm going I can almost guarantee arriving at that time, but have occasionally made stupid mistakes on the way.

These days setting off at the right time in the first place or having a 'fuck it, i'll get there anyway' attitude are prob making me safer.

Used to but not anymore, when riding angry safeties are off, and I can acheieve some some incredible riding, memorable events were the fast road in Southern Spain before the Rubbish camp site.

Never a good idea to ride with the red mist about. If you've have had a shitty week a nice evening/weekend ride can really lift the spirit though.

Getting on my bike when I'm pissed off is not a good idea. You end up taking risks you wouldn't normally and getting sloppy but I agree, the rush of it is immense when you just nail it everywhere.

I remember reading about some American bloke who road when he had been arguing with his lass. Ended up crashing into a resturant and it took them quite a while to scrape the bits of his body up Thumbs Down Had absolutely NO protective gear on, not even a helmet.

Remember seeing that, iirc then there was a low wall of about 1ft that he hit, it then flung him through the window of the place taking various bits of him off on the way.

Still, america is full of fast food (I'll get my coat).

It was a sports bike, if it's the one I'm thinking off he hit a brick wall of a resturant and went through it at something like 160mph. They found his feet in the ceiling.

Depends on the roads etc, but I love killing off steam riding angry. Best way to calm down after a row with the ex.

However, riding to/from work angry through thick London traffic /sucks/. Well I lie, it's excellent, but not exactly wise.

I think it was a GSXR thou that done it.

A 98 R1 would have created such an immense force that its ramair intake would have simply ate the building and anything else in its path and carried on going.

Luckily I can take my bike to it's limit as much as I want and still be no closer to killing myself seeming as I was having to rag it to get anywhere at a reasonable speed anyway. When angry, I do however pin the throttle going everywhere and ride at about 40MPH~ in 30 zones. It's a good thing I'm not angry very often.

Also a good thing it's such a hassle to listen to music while jumping on my bike to go anywhere. Certain music definitely makes you want to get the adrenaline pumping.

Nope. The best way. Angry dry bumming comes in second. You evidently haven't hooned around North Wales/Anglesey Wink

Been there done that Very Happy

Last time I was able to scream across the island at 170+ on my 'busa on that wonderful A55 but when I lived up there all you had was the windy little A5 through Mona with it's tractors and sheep farmers with their rusted out Bedford Sherpa vans getting in the way.

That near-hairpin by the Llanfaethlu coffee-house as caught out more than a few newbies too Wink

Specifically remember doing it once, got on the bike to leave college (so about 7 years ago), was on a Fireblade at the time and I just remember thinking balls to it and just hammered it up the dual carriageway and then barely slowed down filtering down the city roads until about 2miles down the road where I thought I was being really stupid so slowed down. Never done it since because it was really dumb, was riding nothing like I would normally purely because I was angry.

Based on most biker's crash history they're probably already at an extremely high risk of crashing in a good mood so riding while angry is suicide, dump your anger before you get on the bike or at least make sure you're managing it, if i've been angry and am not in a 'grrr' mood still when I have to ride I find i've totally forgotten about it within minutes. Cars are different though, road rage can spark anger whilst driving, though I find winding the window down and shouting or gesticulating is all I need to relieve that, or some careful brake testing.
