Good News: I've installed hand-guards/heated grips to me ER5

Bad News: I foolishly forgot about the removed petrol tank and tried to start it. And now the petrol tank is back on it doesn't start. I'm no mechanic but i presume the engine is either flooded or bone-dry (petrol-wise).

Is this really bad for the engine?
If i leave it will it 'draw' fuel into the engine to start it?
What can i do to help the fuel flow into the engine if its just lack of fuel?

im not too sure whether this is it but on my bike in the past i give the throttle a couple of full twists to draw in the petrol with a new tank. hope this helps.
not too sure though so hopefully someone will be able to back me up or tell me if im wrong:D

If it did run dry, it would just need some help pulling the fuel through. Just it a few more try's.

I had this issue quite a lot, mainly because I kept leaving the fuel switch set to Off. I also managed to forget to fill it up, and it died.

I just left it for a little while with fuel switch on, maybe bump started it to get things going, and it seemed to work? But I'd appreciate any further advice, as fueling seems to be my issue.

It's just the fuel needing to be sucked into the dry carb. Thumbs Up

I got it working. I left battery on charge overnight and it started first time this morning. Not sure if it was the battery exactly or if leaving it over night put fuel into the engine but it's up and running Smile

Sounds like the elves mended it whilst you were asleep.

They sometimes fix my bike when I've gone to bed, too.
