OK, i think im slightly besotted with this bike.

I am booking a test ride tommorow, the bike is already sold to me in looks and specs.

If it rides as good as everyone says it does,I think i may actually buy one!!

allready talked to a guy at bmw, basically the s1000rr sport (the one with traction control, abs etc) is £12,500 otr, which is a good price for what it is.

There is only 1000 bikes in the first batch at that price. which were apparently heavily under priced, so after those 1000 are gone and the next batch comes out, the price is going to rise, heavily.

I like the bmw motorsport colours, but am also swaying towards black!

193BHP standard !!!

Based purely on the look of it, it's the first sports bike in years that's made me think 'I want', and it seems to blow reviewers away too. Cool

My mates just bought one of these and rates it really highly. I thought it looked even more stunning in the flesh than in the pictures..... and for me to say that about a BMW is truly something.

A very interesting bike. Make an excellent 'daily'/commuter bike I reckon, though not sure it'd really be a great 'fun' bike for me.

Would be interesting to see how they compare powerwise to the expensive duke - I suspect it wouldn't cost too much to get the suspension etc as good/useful.

I'm hoping that there's a decent number of people buying them who find the traction control doesn't solve all ills and end up crashing them, getting scared and selling cheaply Smile.

No, I just like to question silly convention.
ABS and traction control I'd find excellent for those nasty winter days and it's probably going to have the best in-gear acceleration of pretty much any road bike.
Not everyone find it 'fun' to have way more power than you need or could reasonably use to any where near it's full extent on the road.

GSXR has been doing very nicely in it's commuting role so far - but far too much power everywhere to be decently 'fun' when 'trying'.

erm, the top spec version with TC is £12,900 list.

The non TC version is £11,200 list.

I don't think there are any other factory options at the moment. Certainly not 1198S money.

If you're referring to the SP-1:

Impractical, uncomfortable, demanding, intensive, uncompromised and absolutely thrilling.

Much slower than an S1000RR though.
