I'd recommend the CG Wink It's nothing special to look at but I would never call it ugly and does just about everything at least averagely. They are cheap though, oh so very cheap Very Happy

Of course I'm biased though Razz Rolling Eyes

I can't believe you are asking, there are SO many threads about this on here. To ride a 125 you need a CBT, no theory required, and then you must have an L plate and front and rear. £60 + 3 points penalty per L plate missing if you get pulled.

Don't sound so down about having a 125 cov, I still manage to get plenty of enjoyment from a 100.

I'd say the only two considerations from your list that need to be addressed are reliability and looks. Purely on the grounds that it's an interim measure 125 and the rest aren't going to very that wildly unless your thinking two stroke sports style.

Reliability is a relatively easy one. Don't go chinese or buy an obvious shitter and you shouldn't go to far wrong.

Looks of course are down to personal preference but if you find a few you like the look of I'm sure plenty of experienced opinions will be offered on what they are like to actually live with.

Glad you decided to go the 125 route rather than putting off getting a bike at all Thumbs Up What's your price range?

The RS is fast enough ( Wiki says 110 but feck knows ) to put a smile on your face when derestricted. I suppose the two stroke noise is either love or hate but I love it Very Happy

Can't be anyt help there matey I've never ridden one although I have read a few times that they are huge amounts of fun on the twisties. Good looking bike though. You could always try and find one in a dealers and get your brother to get a test ride on it for you Thumbs Up

Okey Dokey,

Would like your thoughts on the Cagiva Planet 125 if you please ... Thumbs Up Smile

Lol you are hooked now!
When i first saw this beasty it was the only bike i wanted, then 3 weeks later i bagged one. I've just sold mine for a grand, probarbly a little less than it was worth but i needed room for the 600. And it only had 6k on the clocks.

Right heres my review (don't forget thpogh i am biased, i love these bikes)

Looks;
I absolutely love the looks of the bike, as you said it is quite streetfighter-ish, make sure you get the one with the belly pan Thumbs Up Mine also had a built in chrome tank that looked the dogs bollox and could be used as a mirror whilst riding lol. It is big for a 125, so the jump to a bigger bike will be much less daunting.

Performance;
For a 125 they are very nippy! Mine was deristricted and with the power valve on these little 2strokes they come alive after 6k. Don't forget though with it being a 2 stroke you will be changing gear quite a lot Wink Don't be expecting any rediculously high top end though as at the end of the day it still only has a 125 motor. Down a huge hill i got an indicated 100mph but on a flat was only good for 85mph. But where it lacks in top end it sure has it in acceleration, and will still beat most cars to 60, which is what you want to be able to nip away from the lights.

Goodies;
It comes with brembo brakes and mazzochi USD forks which are fantastic! I wish i had them on my current bike and i've been looking into the possiblity of modding it. Great braking, very comfortable and it also has a hinged tank so you car store things under the tank. My helmet was to big but ideal for a back pack etc. It does not have a tacho which was a draw back at first but when you get used to the bike it fine, and if anything helps you learn to ride the bike rather than just watch the tacho.

Reliability;
Right here we go, for the first 3 months of ownership it started first time without a problem but after the 3month would be difficult to start after leaving a week or so. Until i realised that the choke cable was snapped lol, so with a new one replaced it started firt time everytime Cool Parts are quite easy to get hold of to with good old ebay Thumbs Up

So all together in my opinion it is one of the best 125s out there, the only other 125 i'd consider would be a honda varadero 125, but be warned they are much slower than the planet Thumbs Up

Need anymore info gimme a shout Thumbs Up

Heres a piccy of my old beaty Wink

Jamie

Tacho is a rev counter.

I think they're Italian?

They're restricted to keep the horsepower at the learner limit. 14 (ish) bhp.
