New bike

Im sorry because this had probably been asked thousands of times, but which bike do people suggest for someone who has just got a 33bhp restricted license. I have been looking at bikes and i think i have narrowed it down to either a 600 bandit, 600 hornet or a sv650. I was also looking at the supersport type bikes like a cbr600, but i heard that they didnt restrict very well? Thanks in advance

out of those three i'd say the hornet but tbh, any bike you restrict is gonna feel gutless after a couple of months and you'll most likely end up taking the restrictors out.

instead of getting it restricted, go back and do the accelerated access. shouldn't be more than 200 notes. which is just a bit more than a restriction kit.

No point buying a big bike and having a kit installed; the only parrallel I can think of is something to do with a eunuch.

Or be a naughty boy and ride without the kit in.

Iv heard about people putting in a power commander and having two maps, one for full power and one for 33bhp, then switching them if they are pulled. Has anyone had any experience of doing this?

If your having it restricted/ keeping it restricted for two years i wouldn't bother with a 600. You will learn more on a smaller/ lighter bike. Thats my opinion anyway

You need to go to showrooms, dealers etc... Get a feel for the bikes you are thinking of buying.

Most dealers will restrict the bike for you for around £100 - £300.

I had an offer for a trade in for my CBR125 RW7 + £500 for a 2001 ZZR600, restricter fitted free (price taken out of the £500) and without charging me for labour costs.

You just need to shop around.

So what should you expect to pay for a das course assuming you have been riding cbt for a while and are a competant rider? what happens if you fail mod one 1st time do you lose the money on your part 2? I was going to do A2 this year as I thought its the cheaper option using my own bike. Can you do mod 1 on a 125 and part 2 on a 500 or do you have to use same size bike for both parts?

i had a vfr 400 (nc30) for the 2 years, that was a very good bike and possibly cheaper than most 600s?

The lightest unfaired bike you can find that naturally makes 33bhp or close to. A bandit 6 is heavy and gentle at full power, as is an SV650. I wouldn't take one of them down to 33bhp.

My personal recommendation is a 1980-83 Honda CB250RS, I had one after I did my test and became rather fond of them. Cagiva river 500 was fairly boring but did the job, also 33bhp.

Not that it matters, you're 17. You'll buy something faired and quick looking, cut its bollocks off, and pay through the nose for insurance.
