after a 150mile trundle to northhampton an back (note to self, never go anywhere near leicester ever again, it seems roadsigns are feared and red lights are meerly a suggestion, and roads were planed by demented lsd fed monkeys).
I went for what was about as close to an interview i think i'm geting, so as soon as the shop opens up...

I be haveing me a neeew job! woo!
I currently have a **** job in an officey shop, doing anything and everything for minimum wage, dispite haveing done so for 4 years. its only part time so it hasn't really mattered...

The place will be a bike place but also dealing with trikes, think about it, bike shops wont fix/service trikes, and neither will car places, you'd think that anyone who has one built it themselfs but its recently not the case, so it may be on to a winner there perhaps?

i'm looking forward to it so much, anything has to be better than crrying furniture about all day or explaining why you dont need a new pc because its mouse stoped working...

So has anyone else got a job selling/repaing bikes or bike bits?

Nope, but while I was sorting out the finance for my new bike/leathers at my dealers, I saw someone I used to work with, he was/is a real inbred moron, I mean seriously, the guy is..... stupid.
He was only working in the "protective clothing" sales area, but it got me thinking, if he can get a job there, I can, and I am thinking about it, that or getting some mechanical knowledge and qualifications under my belt and getting in that way.
Working with bikes is like, yay. Smile

I used to. Leaving was the worst thing I ever did.

The guy who i'm working with is a seriously knowlageable and experienced mechanic, the stuff i will learn would make it worth turning up every weekend just for that!

Roo - yeh i completely know what you mean, the absoloute most important thing in a job is to enjoy it, if you think how many hours your going to spend at work then its madness to have a job you hate or stresses you out just for a little bit more money... lucky for me my current one is total **** its would have to be pritty dire to be worse than this or others i have endured.
Oh yeh, my brother in law is a chef (second in line from head chef in piere-victoires if you have heared of them) i dont htink it gets much crapper than working in a kitchen, i did for a few months part time, it was eeeevil, i can't imagine how people do it all day long almost every day Shocked

Isn't it. Its great to know of someone who knows just how bloody hard it is. Not so much a job as a lifestyle I reckon.
Just make sure you appreciate the new job. Their are very few better places to be working......
Congrats on the new job by the way. Dance!
You'll love it. Thumbs Up

I have been in this industry for more years then i care to remember and find the hardest part is the long hours especially at weekend when you want to be out riding Crying or Very sad

But thats enough of that

What other job do you get that when you wake up you cant wait to go to work cos thats what i am like in the morning. I'm like a kid on xmas day Very Happy

The satisfaction you get is unbelievable especially watching someone taking a new bike away grinning from ear to ear. Customers, if treated corrctly, become friends where else would that happen.

Good luck you will not regret it Dance!

thanks guys, i soooo can't wait to start, its going to initially be servicing/parts e.t.c. hopefully it will end up with a sales area (i'm pretty sure it will), ive been selling pcs for the last 3/4 years as well (only recently moved department, but i basically do everything now) theres one or two arse heads that come in but most people are cool, most bikers who come in i end up talking to for half an hour about bikes Very Happy so it wont really be like work at all Very Happy

I have a great job - I don't work with bikes but I do love what I do - and I especially love the fact that I work for myself so if the weather IS good I can go out on the bike without having to answer to any one!

My partner was recently made redundant - company closed down - bu he had been there for 20 years - since he left school so although he has experience in management and manufacturing, can turn his hand to anything he tries he is struggling to get a job as he doesnt have qualifications!! Why doesn't his experience count with employees - what a waste I say!
