I can't decide - I keep going one way then the other.....

DAS:
pros: all the power straight away Twisted Evil
cons: cost, training time (no holidays left!), getting test booked to go with training (mod 2s not available on proper booking until April).

125:
pros: happy on my bike, can book a short-notice/cancellation test as it'd fit into work, general lack of hassle.
cons: 33bhp for 2 years.....

I mostly want the power to get past 40-50mph mob on twisties (which the 125 won't do without a mile clear ahead) on my commute, so I have been told 33bhp is enough and that all it'll do it limit my top end (which being mature and sensible (ish) I'm not too worried about).

Can you do your big bike test if you've already passed the standard/125? Then I could always upgrade if I'm bored in a year's time Wink

Yes you can 'upgrade'. But costa lotta more doesn't it.

I'm A2 on a 27bhp 250cc. Plenty for my current ability. But like i've said before if i could've afforded DAS i would of done.

Less if I could de-restrict my bike just before taking it Wink

Getting a restictor fitted is another cost on the con side of the 125 test; another pro would be just having to take the restriction out for lots more power after 2 years rather than changing bike....

DAS everytime, money saved is negated when you have to fit restrictors to a bike.

why restrict yourself to 33bhp for 2 years when you dont have to Confused pain in the ass if you ask me

do the das mate, it makes a lot more sense

Apart from you'll get bored of 33bhp before the 2 years are up and will want to take the restrictors out early. Which gives you the choice of doing the accelerated access test which is a further expense, or not bothering with that and just riding illegally.

Do your DAS. Thumbs Up

Go DAS. You can then ride any bike you like, and move on in your own time without getting penalised.

You do the test on the 500cc, then you could go out and get a 250/400 if you like. Thumbs Up There are no hard and fast rules about what you should get, the choice, is yours.

probably charge a little more to cover the increased fuel consumption, more expensive tax, insurance costs, depreciation, and also perhaps more expensive parts (for when they get dropped etc) on the das bike??
