So been waiting to sell my CG ever since I passed my test in November, but been saving up all this time, and waiting for the weather!
But the CG got sold on saturday, and the same day I called up this guy whos Bandit was on eBay for £1300 for a week but didnt sell, so it went back on for £1200. Went to look at it and offered £1100 and picked it up yday
Anyway, im in love with it already! It's a '98 but in really good nick, brand new chain and service history etc. Had to ride it back unresticted and all I can say is . Compared to my CG at least!
Heres some photos:

And before anyone comes along and says "Its just a bandit", compared to my 125 its amazing ____________________ CG 125 > Bandit 600 > CBR 600 FY > Street Triple R |

there is a reason people buy bandits,
they are neigh on bullet proof, parts are easy to get,
upgrading is easy,
even the most ham fisted should be able to stay out of trouble on one,
they are the perfect step up bike, enough power to go touring, and frugal enough to be used as a daily commuter.
i don't think there is a better bike out there for the money for the duties that the bandit performs,
as for using their imagination ..... don't you own a gsxr???
i'll leave out the cool little 2 strokes you have ____________________ the humans are dead

Rock on mate!! I'm so pleased for you!
That really is a lovely looking Bandit, at £1100 you honestly can't go wrong there! I actually viewed a red '98 Bandit, but it was nothing compared to yours, looks awesome! Did my post make you think "f*ck it, i'm going to stop waiting around and get a Bandit now" by any chance?
It's great news buddy, i was going to email you sometime this week about getting the Bandit and ask how you were getting on searching for one, no need to ask now!
I bet it was amazing riding it home! The power compared to the 125 must have been incredible, and i know there are quicker bikes and people will probably say "it's only a Bandit" but like you, i'm happy with my choice, and when i finally ride mine, i'm sure i'll be just like you... .....
What was it like dude? I'm dying to know
Congrats though, that's a steal at £1100 |

Lol i wondered how long it would take you to see this thread
Im not sure what i was waiting for really, i just found some spare time at uni and put my CG up for sale. Was intending to sell it and be waiting at least a few weeks for a Bandit to come up locally but found this one about 20 mins away and went to see it and the opportunity was to good to pass up on. I was looking for a standard one to, theres loads of molested ones. I don't really like ones with twin headlights for a start.
Its really nice to ride, compared to my 125 at any rate. So much smoother, the CG feels really unrefined compared to it. Sounds really nice too. And the power is just silly. Ive been too scared to take it above 8000rpm so far. Nice to actually have a rev counter now though! Just feels loads nicer, even like the indicator control is nice to use. Anyway im waffling.
It is full power though, definatley noticable. Yours is restricted if im right? But you will still notice the change definatley. Especially the weight! Im used to picking the CG up at the back and man handling it around. No chance with this. But it does feel much more planted when riding around because of the weight.
And there are several reasons i chose the bandit. Firstly because i wanted to avoid the 500cc learner/commuter bikes, and the bandit felt like a good choice with the looks, price, and reputation.
And the bar ends are 2nd priority to go after the handles are sorted, they are pretty gash ____________________ CG 125 > Bandit 600 > CBR 600 FY > Street Triple R |

Not sure about that I bought a 2001 bandit 6 for £1500 over 3 years ago. |
Chris, stop knocking the guy's choice. My Bandit's more shagged than that, as you've seen, and it still goes pretty well, especially for a first big bike. They're fun, provided you sort the brakes. Get new hoses and seals on there, and it'll improve it massively.
Milkster: if it makes you feel any better, I ended up paying £999 for a 1996 Bandit, which looked a fair bit rougher than yours. Yes, yes I got stung. I know I did. Like you, I was just itching to get myself a bigger bike, and I decided to let excitement overtake pragmatism...
Anyway: hello all, I'm back. Apologies if I missed any particularly good trolls, it's been a rough few months here. Also: Korn's alive? OMGWTFBBQ! ____________________ '10 SV650SF, '83 GS650GT (it lives!), Questionable DIY dash project, 3D Printer project, Lasercutter project |

Haha, i'm just so chuffed for you mate
I wanted a standard one myself actually, because i don't like the fact of getting a bike that's been tampered with, but mine had all the history, and the non standard parts, were basically the end can, the braided brake lines, wavey discs and renthal sprockets, so not much at all really. I'm not a fan of the twin headlights either, ruins the look.
I was actually the same as you, only 20 minutes away from the bike, and it was an oppurtunity that i would of been stupid to miss. I bet it was so much nicer that the CG, and the weight difference!! Haha, must have been a big jump lol. When my Bandit came, getting it off the trailer was the scary part, i didn't want to drop it! It weighs a ton compared to my 125, but i'll get used to it. I have to admit, having a rev counter is awesome, i've only sat on it, started it up, got the needle to 10,000rpm, and it sounded really mean the Delkevic can is loud lol.
Yeah mine's restricted, so it will be different to full power, but the guy who i bought it off told me, it only makes a difference to the top speed, and ever so slightly to acceleration, but hardly noticeable, he said he had 105mph out of it restricted, and it wasn't being redlined, he said he's never taken the needle into the red zone, which is good
I'm blabbering on now too, but it must have been incredible dude, the bar ends are pretty ugly IMHO. So are you ditching the standard bars for some renthals? I like the standard ones, they feel comfortable to hold, and they're not to narrow like BanditJeff said a while ago, but saying that, i haven't ridden the bike yet. |

Read the thread,
Blue was saying buying an SV is worse than a bandit I disagreed, Milkster then said £1100 was a steal for a 12 year old commuter bike, hardly as steal in my mind based on when I bought a Bandit. Hardly knocking his choices. ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.
