So I though I’d start a thread for everyone to complain about the DVLA / DSA as time and time again they seem to go out of their way to piss me off.

Firstly – I sold a car last year, sent the Tax disk back to them for a refund on the remaining road tax (car went to a dealers) and sent off the V5 – got my cheque for the tax back, but then received a letter a month later saying I owe them £60 for not sending the V5 back or transferring the vehicle over to the new owner.. tossers.

Secondly – When trying to book my bike test last year, their website never worked, so I phoned up to book my MOD1, and got promptly fucked off and told to use the website.. tossers.

Thirdly – I booked my DAS Mod 1 at the end of October, test was meant to be at the end of November, but this was cancelled due to bad weather, rebooked for end of December and cancelled again, then got a phone call mid January saying my test that was booked for the following Sunday was cancelled due to weather (they hadn’t even told me the test was rebooked this time), and would be rescheduled for last week, when I got there, there was a bit of slush (not quite ice) on the track so cancelled yet again.. so have just got off the phone to them now and it’s booked in yet again for the middle of March.. So 18 weeks from originally trying to book my test and I’ve still not taken it… Tossers.

The DVLA are holding my license to ransom. I can get it back, but it'll be hassle and it'll be expensive. Rolling Eyes

The arse holes tried to fine me £80 for not returning the V5 of a bike that got stolen. After the theft, they told me to keep it in case the bike was returned. It was recovered, but I had a six month battle with the revovery agent to get it back without getting raped for recovery charges. Anyway, I digress...

I rang the DVLA loads of times to try and sort it out but they didn't want anything other than a cheque, or a court hearing. So thats exactly what they got!

I was in court for no more than forty seconds, they didn't even turn up and the judge immediately dismissed the case.

The moral of the story? Fight the bastards all the way, just be sure you're in the right!

3 sounds like pretty genuine reasons to me, if the whether is bad its bad and nothing the DSA do will change that fact. If they allow you to take the test and you slip/fall and fail the test you would be back here complaining that they shouldn't have allowed you to take the test.

March is a good time to take test, hopefully nice whether and good luck passing.

To be fair they cant help the weather - although the last time i turned up to do the test, they could have literally swept the slush off the track (there was only 1 puddle about 1m wide) and then 7 people wouldn't have had to rebook tests.. hell, i even asked if they had a brush, and offered to do it myself !

I have twice ordered my Tax disk online, and both times (bike and car) it has failed to arrive. In fact, the car tax I ordered in November, and when I returned from India in January, it still hadn't arrived.

I contacted them again, and finally it arrived, at the end of January!!!

But IF I had been stopped by the police, I could have been done for not displaying a tax disk!!! Rolling Eyes

The DVLA/DSA really are the true meaning of incompetence.

I imagine their office/barn (Wales... see what i did there) Wink will be devoid of any sharp objects, the keyboards have a plastic cover over them and bog visits require a partner.

Geez and they wonder why folk over the border go to the trouble of taking a dump in an envelope and sending it to 'em Rolling Eyes
