Hi,
Just got me the tzr after wrecking the rgv.
Got the bodywork nicely sorted out (looks gr8 with the rgv's front faring)
Next a pair tyres that make me feel better in the corners, seeing the tzr's wheels is about 50% narrower than the rgv's.

Then over to the engine. I'm no mechanic, but would like to walk into a workshop and say "Do this, do that, and hurry up". Normally they are so full of nonsense (here in Cape Town at least)

Any suggestions? Hear you people talk about "derestrictin" and stuff like that...What de hell?

Is it the V twin or reverse cylinder one?

If its the reverse cyl, with some performance pipes and minimal air filtration - you could use clamp on ones down in SA, not so much rain there -, along with dynojets or similar, you could get some excellent air flow through the motor. Probably push the fuel consumption down to ~18mpg if you try hard enough.

Or as the man above me said, get the top end off and get a port job on it. That will give you more power in a peakier manner. See about a touch of ignition advance or higher compression too. Depends how much you like your engine, whether or not you'd run silicon putty instead of a head gasket.

The 1KT is the import version of the 2MA (UK MODEL), they are both parallel twins, I have a tzr250 2MA, I'm getting a stage 2 tune at Stan Stephens and a set of JL exhausts. I'm also going to take my engine out soon and rebuild it so when i get the top end back the rest of the engine is pucker as well. The only difference between the 1KT and 2MA is the integrated indicators at the back and the smaller ones at the front, I have big bulky pointy out ones on mine Embarassed .

I got a web site where you can download a service manual, workshop manual and parts catalogue. They’re Very useful indeed.

https://www.tzr250.plus.com/

Here’s a Better quality workshop manual on here but it’s much much larger.

Hey Dude,

Yip, that's my bike...still trying to figure out what a stage x tune is though.

Coincidently started downloading your manuals even before I got your mail....lol.

Will try figure out who is the best to ask down here in Cape Town....place I used to go to 's attitude pissed me off....promised myself never to go back and "my" mechanic always want to go his way.

Did I mention my TZR got a rgv front fairing now? I also made one tailkit out of the original 3 pieces. Looks really cool.

Sounds smart, have you got any pics.

I decided to go for a stage 2 tune as the stage 3 is more aimed at track use, i just don't want it to be too unreliable.

No pics yet....the tail I talked need to be resprayed so the bike is at a shop for that now. But will take some snaps just to show off when I get it back.

What do they do when they do a stage X tune?

Sorry for such stupid questions, but I'm kind of new to tinkering with performance......Can use it quite well though.... quite a few big bikes here in CT that can witness that! ha ha ah

They modify the ports and head of the cylinder, mainly to raise compression and allow the gasses to flow better.

Information on here:
https://www.stanstephens.com/ under 2 stroke tuning.

Sounds cool with what your doing to your bike, i will be thinking of doing something similar in the future, i've seen the race single seat units for sale, they look good are are priced reasonably as well.
